Report: Katie Holmes ready to date again

Katie Holmes is said to be ready to start dating again, but the U.S. actress is adamant about not wanting to give up her freedom, RadarOnline said. Holmes ended her 5-year marriage to film star Tom Cruise in 2012, reportedly, in part, because he was very controlling. The former couple have a 6- year-old daughter, Suri. "Katie's in a dilemma because she wants to date, but is concerned where it could lead to from there," a family insider told RadarOnline Monday. "She's worried that if she commits herself fully to another man, she will have to give up the freedom she's enjoying so much at the moment. As a single woman, she has no one controlling her nowadays, telling her what to do or who to see and she absolutely loves it," the unnamed source said. "However, at the same time, she also misses being with someone special to share experiences with and she doesn't want to be alone for the rest of her life. Katie's got Suri for the time being, and she is her best friend, but she does eventually want to find a man she can be that close with as well. She's just a little nervous and cautious about relationships still right now."

Singer Reg Presley dead at 71

Reg Presley, lead singer of the 1960s rock band The Troggs, has died of lung cancer at his home in Hampshire, England, said his daughter, Karen. He was 71. The Troggs were known for their hits, "Wild Thing," "With a Girl Like You," "I Can't Control Myself" and "Love is All Around," which Wet Wet Wet covered in the 1990s and which was featured on the soundtrack of the romantic comedy "Four Weddings and a Funeral." The BBC said Presley retired a year ago after he was diagnosed with lung cancer and had since suffered several strokes. "As you all know, I was taken ill whilst doing a gig in Germany in December. During my stay in hospital, tests showed that, in fact, I have lung cancer," Presley wrote on his website in January 2012. "I am receiving chemotherapy treatment and at the moment not feeling too bad. However, I've had to call time on The Troggs and retire. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the cards and calls and for your love, loyalty and support over the years."

Christie is a good sport on 'Late Show'

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told David Letterman he loves him despite the jokes the comedian frequently makes about his weight. Christie made his first appearance on Letterman's "Late Show" in New York Monday. As he walked out onstage, Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra played "Thunder Road," a song by New Jersey icon Bruce Springsteen. "How do you feel about me?" Letterman asked Christie. "I love you, Dave," Christie laughed. "No, no, a love that I have a difficult time really explaining, but a deep and abiding love." "Well, now, now, we have a real problem," Letterman said. "But I've made jokes about you, not just one or two, not just ongoing, here and there, intermittent..." Pulling a doughnut from his suit pocket and eating it, Christie quipped, "I didn't know this was going to be this long." "All kidding aside, is it an issue or is it not an issue? And you tell me how you see things," Letterman said. "Well, I only care if you're funny. I mean, from my perspective, if the joke is funny, I laugh, even if it's about me. If it's not funny, I don't laugh. But I've never felt like it was, you know, anything that really bugged me all that much, no," Christie assured Letterman, then telling the "Late Show" host he finds about 40 percent of his jokes about him funny.
