Here's the Scoop...

With 'The Nice Guys', my pick for "Movie of the Summer", coming out at the end of the month star Ryan Gosling has been in the press lately. In a recent interview he talked about his involvement in 'Blade Runner 2'.

The 35-year-old actor discussed the Blade Runner sequel in an interview with IGN. Gosling will co-star with Harrison Ford, who played Rick Deckard in the original 1982 film directed by Ridley Scott.

"First of all, as a fan of the film, the fact that Ridley and Harrison wanted to extend that story and keep going was exciting enough," Gosling said of what attracted him to the project.

"Then, the idea of getting to be an actor and involved in that in some way? I kind of can't believe it," he admitted. "I'll believe it when we're there doing it."

Scott will produce Blade Runner 2, with Prisoners and Sicario helmer Denis Villeneuve as director. The sequel will also feature Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Sylvia Hoeks, and open in theaters Oct. 6, 2017.

"We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline," Scott previously told Variety of writing the movie with Hampton Fancher.

"It all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one," he added. "Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it's about finding him; he comes in in the third act."

The original Blade Runner is based on the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. The film takes place in dystopian Los Angeles, where Deckard, a "Blade Runner," hunts down bioengineered beings known as replicants.

Gosling will next star with Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys, which opens May 20. The actor welcomed his second child, daughter Amada, with Eva Mendes in April, and was able to keep the birth secret until this week.

I never thought I'd be this excited for two new Ryan Gosling movies!

Be Well,
Steve

Gael Garcia Bernal cast as Zorro in upcoming reboot 'Z'
Gael Garcia Bernal has been cast as iconic vigilante swordsman Zorro, for an upcoming reboot entitled Z.

According to Deadline, the project set to be directed by Jonas Cuaron, the son of famed Mexican director Alfonso Cuaron, will place the swashbuckling hero in a futuristic setting.

"Z" is a reimagining of the classic legend and will "take audiences to a new and visually exciting world," a press release reads.

A co-production between Lantica Pictures and Sobini Films, Cuaron is set to begin production on Z later this year in the Dominican Republic.

"I have always loved Gael for this role. Zorro is a hero who is charming, witty, and clever. Gael possesses all those characteristics and he's able to deliver them with a modern spin to introduce the Zorro character to a new audience," said Sobini Films executive director Mark Amin.

Bernal is coming off his recent Golden Globe win for his role in the Amazon exclusive comedy, Mozart in the Jungle and was last seen in the border thriller Desierto, which was also directed by Cuaron.

Created by Johnston McCulley in 1919, Zorro was last seen on the silver screen in 2005 in The Legend of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, which was a sequel to 1998's The Mask of Zorro.

According to Variety, producers Scott Steindorff and Dylan Russell are developing a film on the life and times of Andre "The Giant" Roussimoff based off an authorized graphic novel published in 2015 entitled, Andre the Giant: Closer to Heaven.

Roussimoff's daughter Robin Christensen-Roussimoff, is also involved with the project and will consult on the film.Written by Brandon Easton and illustrated by Denis Medri, Closer to Heaven chronicled Andre's journey as a farm boy in France to the top of the WWE.

Towering over 7-foot-4-inches, and dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the World," Andre the Giant remained undefeated for 15 years in the WWE until his famous feud with Hulk Hogan which culminated in his first defeat at the record-breaking WrestleMania III. Roussimoff is also known for his role as Fezzik in 1987's The Princess Bride

"Andre the Giant rode the wave of the rise of wrestling in America, while suffering from the painful health condition of gigantism," Steindorff said in an official statement. "There's an Elephant Man story here."

Roussimoff died of heart failure at the age of 46 in 1993. WWE still honors one of their biggest stars every year at WrestleMania with annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale in which the winner receives a golden statue made in his likeness.
