'Alien: Covenant' gives first glimpse of Katherine Waterston
Alien: Covenant gave fans a first glimpse of Katherine Waterston on Thursday.
The Prometheus sequel released a behind-the-scenes photo of the 36-year-old actress on set as her character, Daniels. The shot, which is set in a spaceship, is captioned, "Nowhere to run."
Alien: Covenant previously shared a glimpse of a spacesuit featuring a patch from the fictional Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The sinister company was first referenced in the 1979 movie Alien.
Prometheus and Alien: Covenant take place in the same universe as Alien and its sequels, but are not direct prequels or sequels to the film. Prometheus opened in 2012, while Alien: Covenant is slated for release Aug. 4, 2017.
Alien and Prometheus director Ridley Scott is also helming Alien: Covenant. The movie will see the crew of the spaceship Covenant explore a planet inhabited by the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender), who survived the Prometheus expedition.
"They're going to go to the planet where the engineers came from, and come across the evolving creature that they had made," Scott told The Wrap in December.
Waterston is known for Inherent Vice and will star in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them with Eddie Redmayne. A new Alien sequel featuring original star Sigourney Weaver is also in the works with director Neill Blomkamp.
LOOSE LIPS:
"I don't feel it's happening as I get older, you know? I don't feel that. I'm becoming way more powerful as I get older, and I'm tired of myself feeling the opposite, and 'I'm not going to do it,' and 'I can't do it alone.'"
--Anne Hathaway, debunking the notion that women lose power as they get older, at a press conference for Alice Through the Looking Glass

Which comedic actress refuses to be naked on-screen, so much so that it's in her contract?
James McAvoy toys with idea of appearing in 'Deadpool' sequel
James McAvoy, who plays Professor X in X-Men: Apocalypse, says his character would fit in just right in a Deadpool sequel.
The Scottish actor said the R-rated film would give his Charles some freedom to be the version of himself McAvoy claimed is "a little bit kinky."
"I'd quite like to explore that" he told the Wall Street Journal.
He also predicted mutants could take on the Avengers in a quarrel without issue. "There's like eight of them and there's a hundred thousand of us," the actor said, adding his metal-controlling character could order Robert Downey Jr.'s character Iron Man around with ease.
"I'd just be like, 'Yo, Robert Downey -- sit down and make me a cup of tea," McAvoy joked.
McAvoy appears in Apocalypse alongside A-listers such as Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn, Michael Fassbender, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult and others. The film opens in theaters Friday, May 27.

Which comedic actress refuses to be naked on-screen, so much so that it's in her contract?
Rebel Wilson has revealed that she refuses to appear naked on-screen, even adding nude stipulations to her film contracts.
"[Filming The Brothers Grimsby] They wanted full-frontal nudity," the actress explained about her most recent comedy alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in the latest issue of Marie Claire UK, in which she also appears on the cover.
"We write in the contract, specifically, 'No nudity,'" she continued.
In order to feature her character in the nude, the comedian explained that another actress was brought in. "They got in another girl -- this larger burlesque dancer from South Africa -- to be a nude double. And they got her to do all this stuff," Wilson said. "Sacha would go,'See, she looks good.' I'm like, 'I'm not doing it. I don't care what you say.'"
Despite her reservations, Wilson did admit that perhaps she could be persuaded to strip-down for a more serious role, however, she noted, "You want to know that the people [behind the camera] have a certain sensibility and decency. And a lot of times in comedy, they're not those people."
On Thursday, Wilson made a surprise appearance on The Late Late Show interrupting host James Corden and Friends star David Schwimmer's epic Drop the Mic rap battle.
"Don't battle me because you know it's not worth it, everybody knows my rhymes are Pitch Perfect," she rapped before being declared the winner.
