'Inside Edition' host Deborah Norville to have cancer surgery
Inside Edition host Deborah Norville will undergo surgery for cancer.
The 60-year-old television personality said in a video message Monday she is having a cancerous thyroid nodule removed from her neck this week.
Norville said an Inside Edition viewer brought the lump to her attention years ago after spotting the bump on TV.
"We live in a world of see something, say something. And I'm really glad we do," the star said.
"When you work on television, viewers comment on everything -- your hair, your makeup, the dress you're wearing," she added. "A long time ago, an Inside Edition viewer reached out to say she'd seen something on my neck. It was a lump."
Norville said doctors initially said the bump was a benign thyroid nodule but recently found it was cancerous.
"The doctor says it's a very localized form of cancer, which tomorrow, I'll have surgery to have removed," she told viewers. "There'll be no chemo, I'm told no radiation; but I will have surgery and I'll be away for a bit."
Norville said Diane McInerney will fill in for her on Inside Edition as she recovers from the surgery. She thanked fans for their well-wishes in a tweet Monday.
"I am overwhelmed by the kindness and good wishes that have come my way!! The world IS filled with kind people. Thank you all! #grateful," the star wrote.
Norville has served as anchor on Inside Edition since 1995.
LOOSE LIPS:
"When I need a minute to return emails or cry or mindlessly scroll through social media, I'll take it. I'm not trying to be a perfect parent. ... I'm okay with life not being balanced."

Geri Halliwell calls Mel B hookup claims 'disappointing' and 'hurtful'
Geri Halliwell is feeling disappointed and hurt following Mel B's claims about their history.
The 46-year-old British singer spoke out through her rep Monday on Mother's Day in the U.K. after Mel B, her Spice Girls band mate, said they once had a sexual encounter.
"It has been very disappointing to read about all these rumors again, especially on Mother's Day of all days," the rep told E! News. "She would like you to know that what has been reported recently is simply not true and has been very hurtful to her family."
Halliwell's rep said the star hopes to move past Mel B's remarks and enjoy the Spice Girls' upcoming reunion tour.
"Moving forward, Geri can't wait to see the girls and all the fans on the tour, have an amazing time with everyone, and make some new memories," the rep said.
"Geri is really grateful for your support and loyalty for so many years," the rep told fans. "She loves the Spice Girls: Emma, Melanie, Melanie and Victoria."
Mel B said while filming Piers Morgan's show Life Stories last week she once slept with Halliwell.
"She's going to hate me for this because she's all posh in her country house and her husband. But it's a fact. It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it," the singer said, according to a clip from Good Morning Britain.
"It was just that once," she added. "And hopefully when Geri gets asked that, which hopefully she will after this, she won't deny it."
Mel B later appeared to backtrack in an interview with the Australian radio show 2DayFM Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash.
"I didn't actually really admit anything," she said. "It wasn't like a big deal, we've known each other 20 plus years. It was just one thing that happened one night. I didn't go into detail about it, at all."
The Spice Girls confirmed plans in November for a reunion tour sans Victoria Beckham. The tour begins June 1 in Manchester, England.

Who is leaving 'Teen Mom OG' after one season?
Teen Mom OG star Bristol Palin is leaving the show after one season.
The 28-year-old television personality announced in an Instagram post Monday she's "walking away" from the MTV series.
"teen mom OG wasn't a fit for me, it took away my peace.. and honestly - my peace has a price tag that no one but God can afford," Palin explained.
"$ doesn't impress me, I don't entertain bs, and walking away from this show allows God to rebuild me (and my little fam) in the right direction," she added.
Palin, the eldest daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, voiced her love for her co-stars Catelynn Lowell, Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood and Cheyenne Floyd.
"I have love for all the girls on the show, and wish them the best of my luck in all their future endeavors!!" she said, adding a heart and cheers emoji.
Palin joined the Teen Mom OG cast in Season 7, Part 2, which came to a close in December. She called out MTV the same month for trying to make her a "fake fill-in Farrah Abraham" on the show.
"No matter how bad @teenmom tries to portray my 'life' ..... my babies, my family, my close friends - they know the TRUTH," the star wrote on Instagram. "I'm a pretty great mom, work my [expletive] off, show up, and hustle everyday to give my kids a pretty great life."
"@mtv doesn't want to talk about faith, show work ethic, or juggling three kids alone," she said. "All they want with my little segment each week is some fake fill-in Farrah Abraham/Jerry Springer BS, and it's simply not true."
Palin is parent to 10-year-old son Tripp with ex-fiance Levi Johnston and two daughters, 3-year-old Sailor and 22-month-old Atlee, with ex-husband Dakota Meyer. She and Meyer split in January 2018 after a year and a half of marriage.
