Tim Bergling, DJ and producer known as Avicii, dead at 28
Tim Bergling, the Swedish disc jockey and music producer who performed as Avicii, died Friday in Oman, his representative confirmed. He was 28.

"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," the spokesperson said in a statement. "He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."

The cause of his death was not immediately disclosed.

People magazine said the artist announced in early 2016 that he no longer intended to tour because he had been suffering acute pancreatitis, which caused him to have his gallbladder and appendix removed.

"I will, however, never let go of music -- I will continue to speak to my fans through it, but I've decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let's make them go out with a bang!" he said at the time. "One part of me can never say never, I could be back... but I won't be right back."

He is best known for his work on the hit songs "Sunshine," "Levels," "Wake Me Up" and "Hey Brother."

'Austin Powers' alum Verne Troyer dead at 49
Austin Powers and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone actor Verne Troyer died Saturday at the age of 49.

"It is with great sadness and incredibly heavy hearts to write that Verne passed away today," said a statement on his Instagram page.

"Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message everyday," the message continued. "He inspired people around the world with his drive, determination, and attitude. On film & television sets, commercial shoots, at comic-con's & personal appearances, to his own YouTube videos, he was there to show everyone what he was capable of doing. Even though his stature was small and his parents often wondered if he'd be able to reach up and open doors on his own in his life, he went on to open more doors for himself and others than anyone could have imagined. He also touched more peoples hearts than he will ever know."

No cause of death was disclosed, but the social-media post alluded to "battles" the Michigan native fought and how "unfortunately this time was too much."

Troyer was also baptized while surrounded by his family during his most recent crisis.

"The family appreciates that they have this time to grieve privately," the statement said. "Depression and Suicide are very serious issues. You never know what kind of battle someone is going through inside. Be kind to one another. And always know, it's never too late to reach out to someone for help."

Troyer's loved ones requested well-wishers make donations in his name to The Starkey Hearing Foundation or Best Buddies in lieu of flowers.

TMZ reported the actor had struggled with alcoholism for years and was hospitalized this month after someone called police and said Troyer was intoxicated and suicidal.

Troyer was born with the genetic disorder known as achondroplasia dwarfism.

'Ash vs. Evil Dead' canceled after three seasons
Starz announced it has canceled its horror-comedy series Ash vs. Evil Dead after three seasons.

"Ash vs Evil Dead has been the ride of a lifetime. Ash Williams was the role of a lifetime," the show's star Bruce Campbell tweeted Friday. "I will always be grateful to Starz, Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and our tireless fans for the opportunity to revisit the franchise that launched our careers. Thank you!"

Campbell collaborated with filmmakers Raimi and Tapert on three Evil Dead movies dating back to 1981, in addition to the television series. The franchise featured Campbell as Ash, a chainsaw-handed, demon-hunting everyman from Michigan.

Helping him save the world on the small screen were Kelly and Pablo, played by Dana DeLorenzo and Ray Santiago. Lucy Lawless also co-starred as the team's powerful foe Ruby.

Anna Faris on Chris Pratt: 'We have a great friendship'
Anna Faris says she has a "great friendship" with ex-husband Chris Pratt.

The 41-year-old actress discussed her relationship with Pratt on Thursday's episode of the SiriusXM radio show Hits 1 in Hollywood after the actor said "divorce sucks" in a new interview.

"We have a great friendship, we really do and we always have," she said. "It's always tough to envision your future as one thing, but I think there is a lot of love. And in what we do there is so much [unpredictability]."

Faris is reportedly dating cinematographer Michael Barrett, but plans to keep relationships out of the public eye in the wake of her divorce.

"I think that it's a lesson learned a little bit in terms of keeping relationships a little more private, potentially, even though I pride myself on being a pretty open person," she said. "But I don't know, it's tough when you're under the scrutiny."

Faris and Pratt, who share 5-year-old son Jack, split in August after eight years of marriage. Pratt broke his silence on their divorce in the April 27 issue of Entertainment Weekly.

"Divorce sucks," the 38-year-old actor said. "But at the end of the day, we've got a great kid who's got two parents who love him very much. And we're still remaining friends and still being kind to one another."

"It's not ideal, but yeah, I think both of us are actually probably doing better," he said of himself and Faris.

Which 'It' actress will star in 'Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase'?

It star Sophia Lillis is to play the titular, teen sleuth in a film adaptation of the mystery novel Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase.

Deadline.com reported the casting news Friday and said production is scheduled to begin soon.

Ellen DeGeneres, Jeff Kleeman, Chip Diggins and Wendy Williams are among the mystery movie's producers.

Variety said the book by Mildred Wirt Benson -- penned under the pseudonym Carolyn Keene -- was first published in 1930 and adapted by Warner Bros. as a film in 1939, starring Bonita Granville.

The Nancy Drew series of novels also inspired the studio's 2007 movie Nancy Drew, with Emma Roberts playing the lead.

Lillis, 16, will also soon be seen in HBO's eight-episode drama Sharp Objects.
