Here's the Scoop...
I still can't believe about Kevin Smith's heart attack. I've always like Mr. Smith. His honesty, his humor, and his warmth are what makes his so appealing. He is the unofficial orator of pop culture, and champions creativity and shines a little on talent and entertainment that would go unnoticed by most audiences. He's the town crier of comic book culture, and I'm grateful for all that he does.
I'm also relived that he is recovering and is in good spirits after his heart attack. I can't even imagine what that must be like, but I'm glad that Kevin is okay and this experience will fuel his next wave of creative efforts.
Kevin Smith offered fans on Facebook an update on his health from the hospital after the filmmaker recently suffered a massive heart attack.
In a 19-minute video posted Tuesday, Smith describes what happened Sunday, when he was hospitalized after performing a new standup special, Kevin Smith Live! at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, Calif., and how the event has made him reflect on his life.
"I didn't piece together [I was having a] heart attack," Smith said in the clip. "Even when I was sitting there going like 'my chest is heavy' and stuff and even though my father died at the age of 67 of a massive heart attack."
"I went through lifestyle changes, and some [explicit] don't matter," the 47-year-old director of Clerks and Mallrats said of how he has lost almost 90 pounds since 2010. "Some [explicit] you just can't beat because it's genetic."
Smith also thanked actor Chris Pratt for sending him prayers on Twitter after learning of the heart attack.
"Poor Chris Pratt, one of my favorite actors on the planet ... put up a nice tweet ... and apparently, like, some people were like '[explicit] your prayers,'" Smith said of the Guardians of the Galaxy star receiving backlash on Twitter.
"Please don't fight over stuff like that, it's a waste of time. Whether you're religious or not, somebody saying 'I'll pray for you' is like a good intention. It's very nice," he continued.
The video ended with Smith becoming emotional as he discussed his life and loved ones. "I had a good long moment to think ... I thought about my parents and how they raised me, and my brother and my sister, and my friends, and my wife and my kid, and this weird wonderful career that I've had for so long," he said.
"I was like, content. I didn't want to die, don't get me wrong, but I was like, 'Well if the ferryman comes tonight, I got to pay him.' What a ride it's been. What an incredible [explicit] ride."
Well said.
Be Well,
Steve

Patton Oswalt is celebrating the release of his late wife's final book.
The 49-year-old actor and comedian praised Michelle McNamara in a tweet Tuesday after aiding in the posthumous publication of her book I"ll Be Gone in the Dark.
Oswalt marked the occasion by bringing a copy of McNamara's book to her grave. McNamara died at age 46 in April 2016 from an undiagnosed heart condition and complications from prescribed medicine.
"You did it, baby. The book is excellent, the writing brilliant. You tried to bring kindness to chaos, which was your way. #IllBeGoneInTheDark #MichelleMcNamara," Oswalt wrote.

The 36-year-old actress and comedian discussed her romance with Fischer on Monday's episode of the You Up? with Nikki Glaser podcast after marrying the chef this month after a few months of dating.
"Part of the thing that's good about us getting married so quickly is that we're so in love," she said. "Every girl I know, if they get proposed to they're like, 'Oh now? Now that I can't have kids!'"
Schumer said it "feels [expletive] good" to have wed Fischer and be able to call him her husband.
"I'm a wife as hell. But it's still like, a novelty," the star said. "Somebody went to sit next to [Chris] and he's like, 'My wife is sitting here,' and then I got back and he was excited to tell me that he said that."
"I just have been really overusing it to a degree that's insane. Like, when it's completely uncalled for," she added.
Schumer and Fischer tied the knot Feb. 13 in a secret ceremony in Malibu, Calif. The actress shared a new slideshow of photos Feb. 17 from the reception, which included pictures with her sister, Kim Caramele.
"Thanks for always always being with me to have a celebration Chardonnay when something big happens thanks for loving me and Chris," she wrote.

Which actor pranked Target a shopper on 'Ellen'?
Neil Patrick Harris was told what to say and do by Ellen DeGeneres as part of a prank that involved the actor shopping for a party at Target.
The comedic skit, which aired Wednesday on Ellen, featured the actor with an injured arm that was elevated from being put into an elaborate cast.
With DeGeneres in his ear telling him what to say, Harris approached a fellow shopper and asked him for help in opening and drinking a variety of flavors from carbonated beverage Bubly.
DeGeneres made things awkward for Harris as she told the Series of Unfortunate Events star to invite his new friend to the party and to hype up and share a made-up story involving Celine Dion and her children that the daytime host never had Harris finish.
DeGeneres then allowed Harris to tell the shopper the truth after he had helped pour Bubly into Harris' mouth. "Want to see a magic trick? Wanna be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show? Harris asked the customer. "Poof! Here you are, you're on it."
