Tom Petty died of accidental drug overdose, coroner rules
Grammy-winning rocker Tom Petty died of an accidental drug overdose, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner announced Friday.

The medical examiner said the 66-year-old died of multi-system organ failure from cardiac arrest as a result of "mixed drug toxicity."

Officials found Fentanyl, oxycodone, temazepam (generic Restoril, a sleep aid), alprazolam (generic Xanax) and citalopram (generic Celexa for depression).

Petty's family said he was prescribed the medications to treat emphysema, knee problems and a fractured hip, which they said had recently progressed to a more serious break. They said he performed 53 tour dates with the hip injury.

"On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication," a statement on his official website said.

His family said they suspected he died of an accidental overdose and the coroner's report confirmed their beliefs.

"As a family we recognize this report may spark a further discussion on the opioid crisis and we feel that it is a health and necessary discussion and we hope in some way this report can save lives," the statement said. "Many people who overdose begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications."

Petty died Oct. 2 at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital after his family decided to take him off life support. He had been found in full cardiac arrest at his manager's home.

Petty is best known as the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, which formed in 1978 and had hits such as "Mary Jane's Last Dance" and "Learning to Fly." He also had a solo career with hits like "Free Fallin'" and "American Girl."

He wrapped up a tour with the Heartbreakers on Sept. 25. Petty told Rolling Stone in December 2016 that the 40th anniversary tour would likely be his last large tour.

"On a positive note we now know for certain he went painlessly and beautifully exhausted after doing what he loved the most, for one last time, performing live with his unmatchable rock band for his loyal fans on the biggest tour of his 40-plus career," his family said. "He was extremely proud of that achievement in the days before he passed."

Julia Louis-Dreyfus expected to return to work on 'Veep' in August
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is expected to return to work on Veep in August with the seventh and final season of the comedy airing in 2019.

"Veep is on hiatus, we'll start filming in August and it will air in 2019," star Matt Walsh said to Entertainment Weekly.

"We've known for about a month. We've seen [Julia], she's done some table reads, she's doing well, she's finished her last chemo, she's in recuperation. Her prospectives have remained excellent throughout. She's very well loved; she's a tremendous person," he continued about his co-star.

Louis-Dreyfus was diagnosed with breast cancer in September, just after she won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Veep.

The 56-year-old shared on social media recently a video of her sons Henry and Charlie performing Michael Jackson's "Beat It" in celebration of her last day of chemotherapy.

Louis-Dreyfus was honored at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday where she was named Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Veep also won Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

"I wish I could have been @SAGawards tonight but have to admit it's pretty fun to watch in my pj's. So honored to win," the actress said on Twitter about missing the event. "So proud to be a union member. So happy for my @VeepHBO bozos for winning ensemble award. Miss being at the table with you all. How was the chicken?"

??? Guess Who ???

Which actress told Anna Faris that she's not dating Chris Pratt?

Olivia Munn reached out to Anna Faris following reports she's dating Chris Pratt.

The 37-year-old actress slammed the rumors in a series of posts Sunday on Instagram Stories before sharing a screenshot of a text conversation she had with Faris, who split from Pratt in August.

"1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup. 2. Not every woman is 'furious' at another woman for dating her ex," Munn wrote of reports Faris was "furious" about the pair supposedly dating.

"3. So even if I was dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong," she added. "4. Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think."

Munn poked fun at what her couple name with Pratt would be, suggesting "Crolivia" and "Prunn," before posting a photo of her exchange with Faris.

"Sooo... I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth," the star told Faris. "I'm sure you already know it's not true, or maybe you didn't care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it's not true."

"Hi!!!! Oh my god-this town is so [expletive] crazy-you are so sweet to text-I love you-having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled! -lets please catch up soon," Faris responded.

Munn split from her boyfriend, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in April, while Faris and Pratt officially filed for divorce in December. Faris and Pratt share 5-year-old son Jack.
