Good morning crew,

Sometimes plans come about slowly. For our first anniversary the wife and I took a little road trip up through Michigan sampling several of the wineries that are so popular in that region.

The first one we stopped at we were so impressed with that the wife made me promise we would go back.

That was four years ago.

But, a promise is a promise, so I took today off and we are heading back up to Buchanan, Michigan. And no, I don't think it's symptomatic of anything that we're driving 90 minutes to drink wine at 11 in the morning on a Wednesday.

If you're interested you can read about our first trip from June, 2013 here...

An ambitious first day on the road.

Laugh it up,

Joe

"We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards, and which incorporates itself with the grapes, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy." -Benjamin Franklin

"Men are like a fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something you'd like to have dinner with." -Jill Shalvis

"Good wine makes good blood, good blood causeth good humors, good humors cause good thoughts, good thoughts bring forth good works, good works carry a man to heaven, ergo, good wine carrieth a man to heaven." -James Howell

A couple are sitting in their living room, sipping wine. Out of the blue, the wife murmurs, "I love you."

"Is that you or the wine talking?" asks the husband.

"It's me," says the wife, "talking to the wine."

*-------------- Guaranteed to Roll Your Eyes --------------*

I was waiting tables in a noisy lobster restaurant in Maine when a vacationing Southerner stumped me with a drink order. I approached the bartender. "Have you ever heard of a drink called 'Seven Young Blondes'?" I asked. He admitted he'd never heard of it, and grabbed a drink guidebook to look it up. Unable to find the recipe, he then asked me to go back and tell the patron that he'd be happy to make the drink if he could list the ingredients for him. "Sir," I asked the customer, "can you tell me what's in that drink?"

He looked at me like I was crazy. "It's wine," he said, pronouncing his words carefully, "Sauvignon blanc."
