'Captain Marvel': Villains, time period announced for upcoming film
Marvel announced key details surrounding its first female-led superhero film Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson.

Captain Marvel, which is due to hit theaters on March 8, 2019, will take place in the '90s before the events of Iron Man which kicked off the Marvel cinematic universe in 2008, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Larson will be seen in the film taking on the powerful aliens The Skrulls who are prominent figures in Marvel comics but have never been featured on the big screen before.

Feige also announced that Captain Marvel will be joined by Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury with both his eyes intact before the S.H.I.E.L.D. leader dons his signature eye patch.

Captain Marvel is set to be directed by duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck with a script by Nicole Perlman.

"I think that making sure that Captain Marvel is not somebody who is a hero in spite of her femininity is really important. She's a very strong character and her being a woman is part of that strength," Perlman said previously.

The first trailer for Season 2 of Stranger Things has gotten nearly 3 million views since it was posted on YouTube Saturday.

The sci-fi drama stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Cara Buono. It will return with fresh episodes on Oct. 27.

Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived," said a message accompanying this weekend's 3-minute preview, which features Michael Jackson's hit song, "Thriller," including the creepy spoken-word prologue by Vincent Price.

The clip also offers a glimpse of Brown's character Eleven whose fate was unclear at the end of Season 1.

LOOSE LIPS:
"It won't surprise you to learn that in all this, the one of us who is most confident and calm is my father. He is the toughest person I know. The cruelest enemy could not break him. The aggressions of political life could not bend him. So he is meeting this challenge as he has every other. Cancer may afflict him in many ways: but it will not make him surrender. Nothing ever has."

Michael Phelps loses race against great white shark
Michael Phelps lost to a great white shark in a 100-meter race Sunday during Discovery Channel's kick off of Shark Week.

In Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs. Great White, the 23-time Olympic gold medalist was given a 1-millimeter-thick bodysuit that mimics the skin of a great white shark along with a monofin in order to even the playing field. Phelps' top speed is listed as 5 mph while a great white can swim up to 25 mph.

Despite the extra help, Phelps finished two seconds behind the shark at 38.1 seconds while the great white crossed the finish line at 36.1 seconds in the cold waters of South Africa. Phelps earlier beat a reef shark and lost to a hammerhead in the Bahamas.

"Rematch? Next time..warmer water," Phelps wrote on Twitter after the race was televised.

Phelps, before the television special, stated that he wasn't in danger while racing the great white shark. "We're not in the water at the same exact time," he said to Good Morning America. For the race, Discovery digitally rendered the shark next to Phelps.

"The moment of glory for #TeamShark!!!," Discovery wrote on Twitter alongside footage of the great white winning the race.

Which Oscar winner has denied rumors that she's dating model Gabriel Aubry?

Charlize Theron says she's not dating Canadian model Gabriel Aubrey.

The 41-year-old American actress said on Sunday's episode of Watch What Happens Live that she's only met Aubry, the ex-partner of actress Halle Berry, in passing.

"No, [we're not dating]," Theron responded after host Andy Cohen asked her if the romance reports were true.

"I've never met him," she said of Aubry. "I met him for, like, three seconds. Like passing, I was just like, 'Hi,' because our kids go to the same school."

Theron, who is mom to son Jackson and daughter August, was spotted getting close to Aubry, who shares daughter Nahla with Berry, during a trip May 27 to Santa Monica Pier. OK! magazine later reported the pair are seeing each other.

"They are really into each other. Its still the early days so they want to keep things discreet, but they have a genuine connection and obviously a huge attraction," a source told the publication in June, according to Perez Hilton.

"They've had dinner together a few times and talk often when they're not together," the insider added. "The more they get to know each other the more they realize they have a lot in common."

Theron also addressed her rumored feud with Sister, Sister alum Tia Mowry. She denied reports that she rolled her eyes at Mowry at a SoulCycle and tried to have the actress banned from the fitness center.

"I heard this story," the star acknowledged. "You can't go by [InTouch Weekly]."

"I'm really nice at SoulCycle, actually, because once my endorphins kick in, I'm almost too friendly. I'm always touching people, like, 'Hey!'" she said. "I'm not an eye-roller ... I don't think [I saw her at SoulCycle], but I'm sorry if [she was there]."
