Filmmaker George Romero dead at 77; Hollywood reacts
Horror master George Romero has died at the age of 77.

"Legendary filmmaker George A. Romero passed away on Sunday July 16, listening to the score of The Quiet Man, one of his all-time favorite films, with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero at his side," his manager Chris Roe said in a Facebook post. "He died peacefully in his sleep, following a brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer, and leaves behind a loving family, many friends, and a filmmaking legacy that has endured, and will continue to endure, the test of time. The family asks for their privacy to be respected at this time."

Among the Pittsburgh filmmaker's credits were Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead and Survival of the Dead.

"Romero has passed away. Hard to find words right now. The loss is so enormous," Guillermo del Toro tweeted.

"Here's to the great George Romero, the man who started it all! A true legend and a huge inspiration. Rest In Peace," Robert Rodriguez said in his post.

"RIP George Romero. Zombies, yes. But...go watch MARTIN. Teenage isolation mutated into vampirism. Online culture as plague," offered Patton Oswalt.

"Goodbye old bean. It was great to know you. Come back- any way you can," said Ted Raimi.

"Sad to hear my favorite collaborator--and good old friend--George Romero has died. George, there will never be another like you," Stephen King added.

Gwen Stefani goes fishing with Blake Shelton, her sons
Gwen Stefani went fishing with boyfriend Blake Shelton and two of her sons over the weekend.

The 47-year-old singer shared posts Sunday on Snapchat from her outing with Shelton, 11-year-old Kingston, 8-year-old Zuma and another friend, including a photo of Shelton sitting in the boat and a clip of Zuma catching a small fish.

"I can see him!" Stefani can be heard saying as her son reels in the fish, with Shelton encouraging, "Catch that sucker!"

Stefani shares Kingston, Zuma and 3-year-old son Apollo with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale, from whom she split in 2015 after nearly 13 years of marriage. She discussed her approach to parenting in an interview with People this month.

"I was in a band and free my whole life, so I always thought I would be really free with [my kids] and do whatever I wanted, like, 'Oh, I'll take them out of school,'" Stefani told the magazine. "But you learn that when they have boundaries is when they feel the safest."

"The hardest thing to do is having a discipline chat and follow up on all those things," she confessed. "It's work, you know? But that's where you get the results."

"I see a constant fear of 'How am I gonna make sure these kids are good people?'" the star said. "I love when they still play and you're like, 'Oh good. They're still doing that.'"

Stefani and Shelton confirmed their relationship in November 2015 following their respective splits from Rossdale and Miranda Lambert. Lambert is now dating Anderson East, and discussed the singer in the August issue of Cosmopolitan.
