Here's the Scoop...

Happy 4th of July!

I might reconsider tuning into the third season of 'True Detective' after reading this news. Mahershala Ali is being eyed to star in a potential third season of HBO's crime drama series, True Detective. Awesome!

Ali is is discussions to join the anthology series before True Detective Season 3 has been greenlit, however, sources close to the network say a third season will happen, Variety reported.

Ali is coming off his Oscar winning turn in Moonlight and starring roles in Hidden Figures and in a pair of Netflix dramas, House of Cards and Luke Cage.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto is said to have penned two episodes for a third season and has been joined by writer producer David Milch (Deadwood) to help with the project, Entertainment Weekly noted.

True Detective Season 1 starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson and Season 2 featured Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch.

In June 2016, McConaughey stated that he was open to returning to the series stating "I miss Rust Cohle, man," in reference to his Season 1 character.

The first season of 'True Detective' is brilliant! The second season is couldn't even make it through the first episode. Fingers crossed for season 3.

Be Well,
Steve

Maria Menounos leaves E! following brain tumor surgery
E! anchor Maria Menounos is leaving the network due to health issues.

The 39-year-old television personality announced in a press release Monday that she will step down after undergoing surgery for a meningioma brain tumor in June.

"I am so grateful for the past three years at E!," Menounos said. "I had such an amazing time co-hosting with Jason Kennedy and working everyday with the wonderful roster of talent on the show including producers, staff and crew. It was such a special, good-hearted group and one I'll always consider family."

"A special thank you to Frances Berwick and Adam Stotsky for all the support they have shown me through the years especially during these tough times," she added. "I will truly miss everyone and am looking forward to this next chapter in my life."

Menounos went public about her brain tumor in an interview with People published the same day. She was diagnosed with the tumor in February while caring for her mom, Litsa Menounos, who has stage 4 brain cancer.

"I didn't cry. I actually laughed," the star recalled of her diagnosis. "It's so surreal and crazy and unbelievable that my mom has a brain tumor -- and now I have one too?"

Menounos underwent a seven-hour surgery on June 8 -- her 39th birthday. Doctors were able to remove 99.9 percent of the tumor, which was benign but has "a six or seven percent chance" of returning.

"This is something that takes at least a month of healing, but I'm getting stronger and stronger every day and I'll be back to normal very soon," Menounos said.

Donal Logue says NYPD, FBI are helping him look for his missing daughter Jade
Gotham star Donal Logue said Sunday via social media his 16-year-old, transgender daughter Jade -- who also goes by the name Arlo -- remains missing after almost a week.

Logue, 51, announced this past Tuesday that Jade was most recently seen in the Barclays Center/Fort Greene Brooklyn area of New York City last Monday afternoon.

The actor posted a heartfelt message on Twitter and Facebook regarding the situation this weekend, alongside what he said was one of his favorite childhood photos of Jade, which showed the youth with a tiny frog perched on her nose.

"I love her and who she is," Logue wrote. "We want you home, Jade."

Logue went on to say the authorities are assisting him to find his daughter and he asked that anyone who knows anything about her whereabouts please help her get home safely.

"Her tribe is strong (I've met many wonderful people through Jade), but there are some predators who swim among their ranks knowing they're dealing with sweet, trusting souls," Logue said. "Whoever knows where she is, whoever may be with her -- clearly this thing has become big and crazy. The net has been flung far and wide and luckily, I have dogged teams from the NYPD, FBI, and others involved. The point is, you may have had good intentions to help her, but I'm sure you realize that this situation is bigger than you could've anticipated. It's okay. Just drop her off. Let her get back in touch with her mother, Kasey, or me -- we'll take her back, with hugs and no questions asked. Contact us If you have any information regarding Jade's disappearance or Detective Frank Liuzzi at 718 636 6547. There is an 'out' for this situation that works for all involved. We promise."

'Top Gun 2' with Tom Cruise receives July 2019 release date
Paramount has dated their long-discussed sequel to Top Gun starring a returning Tom Cruise for July 12, 2019.

Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, who worked with Cruise on sci-fi drama Oblivion, is helming the sequel to the 1986 hit with Jerry Bruckheimer returning to produce, Deadline reported.

"Excited to make it official. Joe Kosinski is on board to direct. And Top Gun is coming to theaters July 12, 2019," Bruckheimer wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of Cruise from the original film.

The film was put on hold following the death of original director Tony Scott who was set to return behind the camera.

The sequel will follow Cruise's character Maverick who is dealing with the rise of drone technology that is making his style of jet fighter flying obsolete, noted The Hollywood Reporter.

Recently, Cruise said the project would retain the same tone as the first film and would be titled Top Gun: Maverick.

"Stylistically, it is going to be the same. We're going to have the same score," the actor said. "Aviators are back. The need for speed. We're going to have big, fast machines. ... It's going to be a competition film like the first one and it is going to be in the same vein, the same tone as the first one, but a progression for [my character] Maverick. It's not going to be called Top Gun 2. It's called Top Gun: Maverick. I didn't want a number."

Which veteran actress has sued FX over her 'Feud' portrayal?

Olivia De Havilland has sued FX, saying its series, Feud: Bette and Joan, negatively and inaccurately portrays her as a gossip monger.

The Gone With the Wind actress, who turned 101 on Saturday, filed the lawsuit in California Superior Court on Friday.

She said Feud's showrunners used her name and image without permission or compensation.

"Putting false statements into a living person's mouth and damaging their reputation is not protected by the First Amendment because the work is cloaked as fiction," the suit reads.

Feud documents the rivalry between actresses Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon) and Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange). Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones portrays De Havilland in the anthology series.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages for emotional distress and damage to her reputation. It also seeks to prevent the network from using her name and image in any series in the future.

The second season of Feud, called Charles and Diana, will focus on the marriage and conflict between Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The season is expected to premiere in 2018.
