Greetings Infomaniacs,

In the United States, about 750,000 people are arrested each year for marijuana offenses. However, Since 2015, marijuana has become the fastest growing industry in the U.S. If marijuana becomes legal in all 50 states, the industry will become larger than the organic food market.

So let's learn a little more about the long history of this odd, mistrusted, misunderstood, and sometimes misused 'gift' of mother nature.

In 1996, California became the first U.S. state to legally allow medical marijuana for patients with a valid doctor's recommendation.

Someone would have to smoke over 1,500 pounds of marijuana to die of an overdose. In other words, dying from a weed overdose is nearly impossible.

There is a difference between hemp and pot. While hemp plants are the same species as marijuana plants, they don't produce the psychoactive ingredient (THC) that is in pot.

The word "canvas" is related to the word "cannabis." Historically, canvases were made of hemp.
