Amy Schumer drops out of live-action 'Barbie' movie
Amy Schumer has announced that she will no longer be able to star in an upcoming live-action film based on Barbie.

"Sadly, I'm no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts," the actress said in a statement.

"The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I'm bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen," she continued.

"We respect and support Amy's decision," a spokesperson for Sony added. "We look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon."

The live-action adaptation of Barbie was expected to start production this summer, Variety reported.

Schumer will be kept busy as she promotes her upcoming comedy with Goldie Hawn Snatched as it opens in May and as she prepares to star in She Came to Me opposite Steve Carell.

Previously, Schumer had fought back against critics of her casting in the Barbie film as detractors claimed that the comedian did not fit the iconic doll's slim appearance and signature look.

"They can scream as loud as they want. We can't hear them because we are getting [expletive] done. I am proud to lead by example. "I say if I'm beautiful, I say if I'm strong. You will not determine my story. I will," she wrote on social media in response.

Kate Winslet says childhood bullies called her 'Blubber'
Kate Winslet says bullies used to call her "Blubber" during her childhood.

The actress recalled being teased for her weight in a speech Wednesday at WE Day U.K. while encouraging kids "to rise above it at all," according to The Telegraph.

"I had been bullied at school. They called me Blubber. Teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard. Laughed at me," she recounted. "I wasn't the prettiest."

WE Day is "a celebration of youth making a difference in their local and global communities," according to the WE Movement website. The event encourages young people "to take social action, empower other and transform lives -- including their own."

"I didn't lock myself away and give up on my dream," Winslet said. "I fought back. I had to ignore the negative comments. I had to believe in myself. I had to choose to rise about it all, and I had to work hard."

"You have to be indestructible to do what you love, and believe that you are worth it. And sometimes that's the hardest part," she acknowledged.

Winslet is known for such films as Titanic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Reader. She had said in an interview with Today in September that her success in Hollywood has been the best "revenge" on her childhood bullies.

"I was kind of bullied when I was younger," the star told host Billy Bush. "For being chubby, and I had girls who were envious of me because I was acting a little bit as a teenager."

"This is my revenge. This right here. This lovely career that I have been blessed with. I have healthy children, I have a really happy life, so it's like, 'Look at me now, girls!'" she said.

'Fixer Upper' and 'Flip or Flop' spinoffs coming to HGTV
Popular series Fixer Upper and Flip or Flop will receive spinoffs on HGTV.

The network announced in a press release this week that Fixer Upper: Behind the Design with Joanna Gaines and five new Flip or Flop titles will premiere in 2017.

"For the first time ever, HGTV finished the year as a top 10 network in primetime among broadcast and cable networks, which is a powerful achievement," HGTV general manager of U.S. programming and development Allison Page said.

"The reason we've seen consistent success is because we have the ability to create on-air and online content that surpasses expectations for audience delivery in an ever-changing environment," she added.

Fixer Upper: Behind the Design will "focus on Joanna's process to create the breathtaking designs showcased" on Fixer Upper. Gaines and husband Chip Gaines have starred on four seasons of Fixer Upper, which follows the couple as they renovate homes.

The five Flip or Flop titles, meanwhile, will follow new duos in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Fort Worth, Nashville and Chicago. Tarek and Christina El Moussa, who split in December, star on the original version.

"The tremendous, consistent ratings success of the original Flip or Flop with Tarek and Christina El Moussa inspired us to take a new look at house flipping programming," Page said. "We saw an opportunity to highlight what works in other regions by featuring successful couples that had mastered the art of flipping in their town."

HGTV will air a sneak peek of Fixer Upper: Behind the Design on March 28. Flip or Flop Vegas will premiere April 6, with Flip or Flop Atlanta to follow in August.

Which recent Oscar winner will play the first female U.S. presidential candidate in a new film?

Brie Larson will play the first female U.S. presidential candidate in the new film Victoria Woodhull.

The 27-year-old actress will portray Woodhull, a women's suffragist who ran for president in 1872, in the forthcoming Amazon Studios movie, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Ben Kopit, who wrote the upcoming film The Libertine, will pen the script for Victoria Woodhull. Deadline reported Larson will produce with Lloyd Braun and Andrew Mittman, with Anne Woodward as executive producer.

Woodhull, who died at age 88 in 1927, ran for president more than 40 years before women gained the right to vote. She was a leading advocate for women's rights, and also described as a "conniver," "narcissist" and "rebel."

Larson herself has been a vocal advocate for women since starring as a sexual assault survivor in the 2015 movie Room. She won an Oscar for Best Actress for the film, and has since appeared in Kong: Skull Island.
