Hello Music lovers,

I may have mentioned before, but I worked at the college radio station for a couple of years. I had a full hour to play whichever music I wanted and it was a blast! No I did not get paid or anything, we didnt even have sponsors or anything to really plug except some school events.

The coolest part was the mountain of albums that were sent to the station by record companies. There were new releases and EPs sent of the latest stuff, and I learned about a ton of new bands this way. I recall the day we got an EP which was basically just a sample for the upcoming album to one of my favorite bands: Franz Ferdinand. This Scottish dance-rock band formed in 2002 and still probably is known for their first single Take Me Out, but Im here to tell you that these guys have consistently GREAT albums.

Each album is chock-full of catchy riff-based dance tunes with guitars, minimal-to-moderate synth sounds, and funky bass. Theres a handful of sweet crooning songs scattered throughout, but they truly excel for the raucous almost hedonistic pop songs. One of the best came from that EP I got in college, its called Ulysses.
