Chrissy Metz of 'This is Us' talks weight, surgery rumors
Chrissy Metz says she plans to lose weight on her own time and by her own methods.

The 36-year-old actress confirmed in the Feb. 20 issue of People that she'd like to shed some pounds, but denied she will have gastric bypass surgery.

"There have been so many discussions about my weight: 'How is she going to lose weight? Is she going to lose weight? When is she going to lose weight?' It's kind of funny," Metz said after sharing that she's ruled out surgery at this time.

"I do want to lose weight," she qualified. "I want to have a fit, healthy body and not have to be put in a box. I don't want to be limited by anything."

Speculation Metz will have gastric bypass surgery began in December after her This is Us character, Kate Pearson, considered the procedure on the NBC series. She addressed the possibility on The Ellen DeGeneres Show the same month.

"Like most actors, we are chameleons, so we play different roles. Like, Christian Bale lost all that weight for The Machinist. So I was like, 'I hope I get to lose weight because that's like a win-win for me.' But it wasn't mandated," the star explained.

"It is a fast fix and it's not always the right answer," she said of the surgery. "With the character, I think she wants a fast fix ... We'll get to see all the details."

This is Us co-stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore and Sterling K. Brown, and airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET. Metz recently said in the March issue of Glamour that she had 81 cents in her bank account when she landed the role of Kate.

Alicia Vikander spotted on set of 'Tomb Raider' reboot
Alicia Vikander was spotted hard at work on the Tomb Raider reboot this week.

The 28-year-old Swedish actress was seen in costume as Lara Croft for the first time while performing stunts Monday on the movie's set in Cape Town, South Africa, according to E! News.

Angelina Jolie previously played Lara in the 2001 movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and its sequel, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider -- The Cradle of Life. The films earned a combined $431 million at the box office.

"That is a woman I would love to meet," Vikander told E! in July. "She made an icon of that character, of course."

"She's quite an incredible woman," she added. "I would love to meet her."

The Tomb Raider reboot co-stars Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Dominic West, and opens in theaters Mar. 16, 2018. The series is based on the Tomb Raider video games, with the reboot drawing inspiration from the 2013 game.

"They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013," Vikander told HitFix in July.

"That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way. So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that'll stand on its own two legs," she added.

Vikander is known for such films as Testament of Youth, Ex Machina and The Danish Girl. She will also star in Tulip Fever with Christoph Waltz and Submergence with James McAvoy.
