Hello Animal Lovers,

Todays video might be a little controversial: and I have to admit I see both sides on this one. Some scientists created a baby robot monkey with a built-in camera to closely observe the colony. Its got realistic facial expressions, fur, and the whole shebang, minus a spycam built into one eyeball.

When one monkey drops the robot spy on accident, the group crowds around the fallen to mourn the loss of the baby. This is amazing footage showing very human-like emotions in another animal that was unexpectedly captured. But it does seem a little cruel to introduce a robot like that in an uncontrolled environment. I feel bad for the monkeys for feeling sad! They have no idea that it was never alive in the first place.

But its a great reminder how closely related to primates we are, sharing similar emotions and offering a new appreciation for their well-being.
