Greetings...

The political race is on. I've been doing this long enough to know it's a risk to go "to deep" when talking about candidates and the parties they represent because as the saying goes, "never discuss politics and religion"...

I wish the candidates themselves would heed that advice and shut up!

It's only January and the thought of eight more months of the endless negative ads, ignorant statements, endorsements made by people that have been, no doubt, promised some kind of position in their candidates administration should they win, and empty promises that unless you are one that would like to but the London Bridge from me, can't really mean a dang thing to most of us, the average American just trying to take care of our families and live a peaceful life...

Nah, I'm not going to choose sides, or endorse anyone. My endorsement means diddly and so far, no one has approached me and offered me a position in any administration...

There IS one position I would turn down if it was offered to me...

"Governor of the Moon Colony"...

I am hereby removing my name for that position should Newt win the election and make good on his promise. Both likely to fail in my opinion, but let's have some fun with it anyway because the way this election season is going, what's one more joke when you have had a treasure trove of them already...

Moon Colony...REALLY???

We don't have enough problems on good 'ole Planet Earth to work on and fix before heading off the planet?

Who on EARTH is this guy pandering to, hoping to get votes? How many votes do you think this promise will get him? Any Aliens out there listening would be shaking their "whatevers" hearing that some guy on Earth wants to set up some kind of colony on a giant rock with no natural resources, life, or that all important ingredient...OXYGEN...

Those silly Earthlings...

The world economy is in the toilet. The people are suffering loss of jobs, homes, and quality of life. Poverty and hunger are are crippling a wide range of the country and this Earthling named Newt comes up with a plan to spend unfathomable amounts of money on something that will appeal to few and affect the wallets of many, no matter what he promises...

Can anyone tell me who would actually want to go live on the Moon? I certainly wouldn't because Southwest Airlines doesn't fly there and it's too far of a commute for Flyboy...

This type of talk should infuriate Earthlings, not applaud it! Does Newt truly believe the average person, or even above average person wants, or cares about traveling hundred of thousands of miles away to live in some kind of climate controlled bubble? Has anyone tried to calculate the amount of money this would take? I don't think it's even possible, and if history has taught us anything, we need to remember that the term "over budget" is guaranteed when you add in the special interest groups and politicians lining their pockets with every contract given from soup to nuts...

I guess I shouldn't give any real thought, or express any outrage over this outrageous idea, afterall, the only thing we DO know about this promise is this...

If a politician is saying it, it's a lie and a promise that won't be kept...

Can you imagine the "Birthers" trying to sort out a future Presidential candidate that was born on the Moon to a mother who married a...Martian?

Once in a "Blue Moon" one of them may say something truthful, or keep a promise, but given this came from Newt himself and the track record behind him, I guess he won't be asking me for my support in exchange for the Governorship of Moonbeam City...

Oh well, what can I say...I guess I'll switch my thoughts to something that is real and happening tomorrow...

Mine and Flyboy's anniversary! Tomorrow, we'll be married 11, count 'em, 11 wonderful years! To many, that's not that much, to others, it's a long time, to us, it seems like a short time and a long time at the same time because neither one of us really remembers, or wants to remember life without each other, and on those rare occasions that a past memory pops in my brain, I shudder, smile, and thank my lucky stars for the person who is sitting next to me watching Golf on TV while I drift into a coma!!!

11 years doesn't seem like a milestone in terms of years, but it's our milestone and signifies another year of happiness, laughter, and tons of love...

Happy Anniversary darlin', it's been great being by your side through it all. I look forward to getting old with you and walking hand in hand through life...

As long as it isn't on the Moon...

:-)

Jamie
