Greetings...As you can probably tell. I'm still not back on a regular schedule. I can't promise when that will happen, but I promise I'm working on it! I just got back from Chicago after spending 10 days with my mom. My sister had to go out of town on business and although my mom said it wasn't necessary for me to go, my sister and I both felt it was a good idea...
I left 80 degree weather and was shocked at how mild it was the first week with temperatures in the 40-upper 50's a few days. Of course the end of my trip was "blessed" with a mother of a snowstorm with bone chilling temps...
Mom's vision has gotten worse the last year and although her health in general is pretty good with some minor issues, she seems so much more frail and disgusted by the endless doctor appointments without any real success on anything they have tried. This has caused her to get depressed off and on, so I decided to go and keep her company which always lifts her spirits and mood. Within a day or two, she already seemed "perkier" and when my sister and I took her to the casino, I noticed how she struggled a little more trying to see the machine she was playing. The only good thing about that is that she wasn't able to see the tears pop out of my own eyes from time to time while watching her...
She amazes me at the work she still does around the house and as much as we try to tell her to "take it easy", she refuses and I suppose she needs to do things to keep herself not only busy, but she worries about being a burden and seems to over-compensate. No amount of arguing the point with her can or will change it. I wonder where I get my stubborness from!
Today is her 85th birthday and I am blessed to be able to say that and still have her around...
The ironic thing is that she ended up taking care of me at the end of my trip there. I ended up in the hospital a few days before I left. Oh, I won't go into it right now, but will because it will explain a good part of the reason why I took some time off. Suffice to say last year, how do I say this delicately...SUCKED!!!
I'll try to sit down and put some kind of time line of events down. Maybe that will help me get into some kind of schedule...
Even though I may not be too "talkative" right now, you can be assured that I still have plenty to say about plenty of things!!!
