Greetings,
The first part of the last part of 'Harry Potter'... is now
available on DVD! I was never a big fan of the stories, or
the films. They have a large following, I know, but as for
being "good" films they are subject to a lot of 'fat' trim-
ming. The fourth film, for example... Sirius dies; nothing
else resonates throughout the series. However, the special
effects and fantasy based stories are fun at times. Check

'Country Strong' DVD
Gwyneth Paltrow stars in this music-centered drama, and she
sings the title song, as well as the Oscar-nominated "Coming
Home." Kelly Canter (Paltrow) is a successful country singer
who has a problem with alcohol. The story opens with her in
a rehab center, where she is having a sexual relationship
with an orderly, Beau Hutton (Garrett Hedlund). But Kelly's
husband James (Tim McGraw) takes her out of the facility,
and she begins a concert tour, taking Beau, who is a singer/
songwriter, with her. Also, James takes on the tour a beauty
queen (Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester).

'White Material' DVD
Isabelle Huppert stars in this beautiful, enigmatic, down-
beat, unconventional French-language film directed by Claire
Denis (35 Shots of Rum). The setting is an unnamed African
country that was once a French colony, and there's a vagueness
about time, which moves backward and forward. The country is
caught up in a civil war between a brutal government and a
rebel army of teenage soldiers. Despite the chaos, a possibly
insane, indomitable white woman named Maria Vial (Huppert)
perseveres in trying to harvest the coffee beans at the large
plantation of the family she married into.
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1' DVD
This is the seventh film in the Harry Potter fantasy-adventure
series of eight films that began in 2001. All are based on the
seven-novel series by J.K. Rowling, with the screen adaptation
of her final novel being broken into two parts. The stars of
all eight movies are Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma
Watson as their characters ? Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and
Hermione Granger ? go from children to young adults. This time
around, Harry, Ron and Hermione are on a quest to destroy the
evil Lord Valdemort's Horcruxes, magical things that make
possible his immortality.
