'Alpha and Omega' DVD

This animated film is about talking wolves. According to
the movie, wolves have a caste system: alpha wolves are the
elite, while omega wolves are at the bottom of the social
ladder. The story is a romantic comedy pairing a female alpha
named Kate (voice of Hayden Panettiere) and a male omega
named Humphrey (voice of Justin Long). The question is: can
an alpha and an omega howl together (where "howl together"
is a euphemism for "mate"). Kate and Humphrey are Canadian
wolves who are relocated to Idaho, and the story centers on
their adventures as they make their way back to Canada.

'Piranha 3D' DVD

A loose remake of the 1978 Piranha, this tasteless, but
often funny, comedy is a spoof of Steven Spielberg's Jaws.
Piranha 3D opens with an old geezer (Richard Dreyfuss) being
killed by prehistoric piranhas released into a lake by a
seismic disturbance. The local sheriff (Elisabeth Shue)
investigates, but keeps the lake open so students can come
there for spring break. The boisterous students arrive, and
many of them are scantily clad babes, whose flesh gets nib-
bled away by the voracious piranhas. There's also a sleazy
guy at the lake who does a show called Wild Wild Girls.

'The Social Network' DVD

Jesse Eisenberg gives a superb performance as the unlikable
protagonist in this biopic about Mark Zuckerberg, the driving
force behind Facebook. In the early part of the story,
Zuckerberg and fellow computer science students at Harvard
put up Web sites centering on their university. Zuckerberg
launches and goes on to team up with Napster
cofounder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) in a site that
first involved many universities and eventually hundreds of
millions of users. Another part of the story is presented as
depositions taken in lawsuits over Facebook.
