'The Girl Who Played With Fire' DVD

This Swedish thriller is the sequel to The Girl With the
Dragon Tattoo and the second in a series of three films
adapted from novels by the late Stieg Larsson. Noomi Rapace
is back as computer hacker Lisbeth Salander, and Michael
Nyqvist returns as investigative journalist Mikael Blomqvist.
But the director and screenwriter are different, and the
new movie has a different feel. This time around, a pair of
journalists preparing an exposé of sex trafficking are mur-
dered. There's strong evidence Lisbeth committed the crime,
but Blomqvist sets out to prove her innocence.


'Sex and the City 2' DVD

Stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and
Cynthia Nixon, as well as writer-director Michael Patrick
King, are all back for this sequel to Sex and the City
(2008). Two years after the earlier film ended, the new movie
opens at a gay wedding, where Carrie (Parker), Samantha
(Cattrall), Charlotte (Davis) and Miranda (Nixon) are guests.
Carrie is married to Mr. Big (Chris Noth), Samantha remains
single, and Charlotte and Miranda are moms. But the four gals
go on a trip to Abu Dhabi, where they end up in a nightclub
doing a karaoke version of "I Am Woman."


'Winter's Bone' DVD

Winner of two awards at Sundance, this drama is co-written
and directed by Debra Granik (Down to the Bone). Based on
the novel by Daniel Woodrell, the setting of Winter's Bone
is among the backwoods mountain people of the Missouri Oz-
arks. The central character is Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence),
a 17-year-old forced to take responsibility for her two
younger siblings and near-catatonic mother. Ree's father is
a meth cooker who has disappeared, and the authorities are
about to take the house if he is not found. Ree goes on a
quest to find her father and must make some difficult
decisions.
