Hi Everyone,

Is everyone getting ready for their holiday weekend? I'm sure many of you will be spending time with family and friends, and enjoying some BBQ at some point this weekend. As many of BBQ this weekend and enjoy the time spent with others, let's not forget the meaning of Memorial Day.

Memorial Day originated in 1868, when Union General John A. Logan designated a day in which the graves of Civil War soldiers would be decorated.

Known as Decoration Day, the holiday was changed to Memorial Day within twenty years, becoming a holiday dedicated to the memory of all war dead. It became a federal holiday in 1971, and is now observed on the last Monday in May.

Hint 1: Have you ever had your sink get clogged and then you realize you have no drain cleaner to break it up? Don't worry...

Try combining one cup of salt with one cup of baking soda
and pouring it down the drain. Follow with 2 quarts of
boiling water, wait about 30 minutes, then flush with cool
water. Your drain should be clear without any dangerous
fumes or chemicals. You may want to use this all the time
instead of those harsh cleaners.

Hint 2: If a white cotton garment has a yellow stain try this trick:

Sprinkle talcum powder over the stained area and press into
the fabric. Then hold an iron, set on the steam setting,
an inch away from the fabric. Shake off excess and launder
as usual with your other whites.
