Skirts range from maxi skirts to mini skirts. Skirts can add a splash of style to any wardrobe. Some skirts will of course look better on you than others. I personally am not a skirt girl. I can never find a skirt that looks good with my body, so I decided to research how to fix that!

The fit and hemline of your skirts are the most important part of picking a skirt. Make sure that you know your accurate size. If the skirt is too tight, it will cling to your hips, butt, and thighs. If you carry extra weight in that area, it will make you look curvier and not in a good way! If the shirt is too big though, it will swallow up your hips, making you look shapeless and sloppy or unsexy.

To get the right size for your body, measure around your waist, at the point where your natural waistline sets. Make sure the measuring tape is pulled firmly to get an accurate measurement. Measure your hips by standing with your feet together and putting the tape around the fullest part of your hips. About 8" below your natural waistline. In some cases, you may need to measure your upper hip as well. Compare those measurements to the store charts.

Hemline measurements are essential in making your legs look their best. Make sure you select the right hemline to give your legs the best shape possible. To find your right hemline, put on the shoes you would normally wear with the skirt. Stand in front of a mirror and hold a piece of fabric and experiment with different lengths. Start with the fabric going all the way down to your feet and progressively raise the fabric, seeing which lengths are the most flattering on your legs.

The most flattering skirt length, no matter your height or shape, curvy or slim, is right above or at the knees. Not only does it look the best, but it is also appropriate for almost any occasion!
