Honey Boo Boo and family escape serious injury in car crash

The stars of the family reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" say they escaped serious injury in a Georgia car crash Monday. Child beauty queen Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, her mother "Mama June" Shannon, father David "Sugar Bear" hompson, and sisters Lauryn "Pumpkin" Shannon and Jessica Chubbs" Shannon were all in the vehicle when another car allegedly slammed into it as Sugar Bear was making a left turn in McIntyre, UsMagazine.com reported Tuesday. "As many of you have heard, we were in a car accident last night," Mama June said in a statement to the celebrity news website. "It was really scary for us, since it was the first time any of us had ever been in a wreck. We are definitely really sore today, but our top priority is to celebrate Pumpkin's birthday. She turned 14 today and no matter how sore we feel we are going to go out and celebrate. As always, we want to thank everyone for their support and well wishes." TMZ said some members of the family were taken to the hospital, but there was no indication of who was hurt and what the nature of the injuries were. The TMZ and UsMagazine.com reports also did not say what happened to the driver and passengers in the other vehicle, or if any police citations were issued.
