Saturday, March 30, 2013Hello Everyone...
Today's featured artist is a relative unknown (even if she's got over a million views on youtube) doing a cover of Jimi Hendrix' Voodoo Chile. It was always my favorite Hendrix tune, with an infectious hook and ear-assaulting rock greatness.
Luna Lee performs Voodoo Chile on a gayageum, a traditional 12-string Korean instrument. She is accompanied by a backing track of bass, drums, and electric guitar among other sounds. The instrument - which I've never even seen until this video - is really cool. She plucks and bends the strings like crazy to emulate the wah-pedal that Jimi was so known for. It has a distinctive Asian sound to it, but certainly sounds amazing.
