Don't You Hate Not Knowing About The Batteries In Your Drawer?

------------------------------------------------------------

Good Morning,

The chemical potential for life on a planet in another solar
system has been discovered. The only problem is that this is
a gas planet and has no solid terrain. If the same chemical
conditions where found on a terrestrial planet, it would be
ideal to support life. Read all about what substances and
chemicals were found in the first article.

Until Tomorrow,
Erin

Basic life chemistry found on 2nd planet

PASADENA, Calif. - NASA scientists say they have detected
the basic chemistry for life on a second hot gas planet
outside our solar system. The researchers say although the
planet is not habitable, it has the same chemistry that, if
found on a rocky planet in the future, could indicate the
presence of life. "It's the second planet outside our solar
system in which water, methane and carbon dioxide have been
found, which are potentially important for biological pro-
cesses in habitable planets," said researcher Mark Swain of
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. "Detecting organic com-
pounds in two exoplanets now raises the possibility that it
will become commonplace to find planets with molecules that
may be tied to life." Swain and colleagues said they used
data from both the Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescopes to
study the planet HD 209458b, a hot, gaseous giant planet
bigger than Jupiter that orbits a sun-like star about 150
light years from Earth in the constellation Pegasus. The new
finding follows their breakthrough discovery in December of
carbon dioxide around another hot, Jupiter-size planet.

NASA sets new Atlantis launch date

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The U.S. space agency says it has
set Nov. 16 as the target launch date for space shuttle
Atlantis' STS-129 mission to the International Space Station.
NASA officials said they met Monday and decided to adjust
Atlantis' target launch date to optimize the agency's ability
to launch both the Ares I-X rocket and Atlantis before the
end of the year. The same launch team at the Kennedy Space
Center is supporting both the shuttle and the flight test of
the Ares I-X rocket, which is to lift off Oct. 27. Atlantis'
new target launch date will give Ares I-X launch opportun-
ities Oct. 27, 28 and 29. The change in Atlantis' targeted
launch will affect the countdown dress rehearsal for the
shuttle's six astronauts. NASA said the simulated countdown
has been rescheduled to Nov. 3. "The astronauts will prac-
tice emergency escape and other related training while they
are at Kennedy this week and return there Nov. 2 to conclude
their rehearsal work," NASA said.

Sunglass styles come and go but this style remains popular
and stylish. Two reasons for this:

1. Rugged and built to last. You won't have to worry about
anything flimsy or breaking off on these.

Scientists build a better fuel cell

CALGARY, Alberta - Canadian scientists say they have discov-
ered a new material that can help increase the efficiency
and decrease the cost of fuel cells. University of Calgary
chemists Jeff Hurd and Professor George Shimizu said they
discovered a material that allows a fuel cell -- known as a
polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell -- to work at a higher
temperature. That, they said, is extremely important in terms
of increasing the efficiency and decreasing the cost of PEM
fuel cells. "This research will alter the way researchers
have to this point perceived candidate materials for fuel
cell applications," Shimizu said. The study that included
Ramanathan Vaidhyanathan and Venkataraman Thangadurai of the
University of Calgary and Christopher Ratcliffe and Igor
Moudrakovski of the Steacie Institute for Molecular Sciences
appears in the early online edition of the journal Nature
Chemistry.
