Miley Cyrus suggests Justin Bieber take 'time out'

U.S. pop star Miley Cyrus says she told Canadian singer Justin Bieber to take a break from the spotlight so his critics will leave him alone. Bieber, 19, came under fire after media reports said he urinated in a restaurant mop bucket, cursed at a photo of former U.S. President Bill Clinton in a video, frequently fights with his neighbors and photographers, and failed to pay a fee at an indoor parachuting facility."I told Justin to take a bit of time out and people aren't so obsessed with you and nitpick," the New York Post quoted Cyrus, 20, as saying. "When you're not around, all they want is your music. They want to see what the next thing is. But when your music is out they just want to talk [expletive] about you. When you're a worldwide star, everyone sees everything. Lots of people make a video and put it on Instagram. Some people might think it's funny, but because it's Justin Bieber, it's really bad."

Writer-producer: Cory Monteith's character won't be recast on 'Glee'

"Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy says the late Cory Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, will not be recast. Monteith died July 13 in Canada. "The right thing to do for the show, at least at this point, is to have that character pass. When we do the tribute episode to that character, we'll have to do it in a way where the cast members will not have to re-create feelings of grief that they've had this week -- but do it in an upbeat way," Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. "If we can do this responsibly and help young people through these feelings, that's the best that we can hope for." Fox announced Friday the show's Season 5 premiere date has been pushed back a week to Sept. 26. Production is now set to begin in August rather than late July to give the dramedy's writers a chance to rethink the season and to offer its cast and crew time to grieve. Monteith died of an accidental heroin and alcohol overdose in a Vancouver hotel room, authorities said. He was 31. His girlfriend was his "Glee" leading lady, Lea Michele.

'How I Met Your Mother' video shown at Comic-Con

A video shown at San Diego Comic-Con tells more about the siblings listening to the long story of how their parents came together on "How I Met Your Mother." The tale will come to an end next year when the sitcom wraps up its ninth and final season. To promote the fresh run of episodes, CBS played a video featuring "HIMYM" cast members Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie Saturday for fans at Comic-Con. The expletive-ridden clip showed the now-adult brother and sister rebelling because, they said, they have given up their own lives for eight years to sit on a couch and listen to their father detail their family's origins story. Executive producer Craig Thomas said in a statement the video is intended to explain what the kids do off-screen when the story is unfolding elsewhere. "This video took eight years to make," Thomas said. "But as we start to answer all of the remaining mysteries of 'How I Met Your Mother,' we just knew that this was one question that we had to answer." Season 9 of "How I Met Your Mother" is to debut Sept. 23. The show stars Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan.

Geraldo Rivera posts semi-nude 'selfie' to Twitter

Television news personality Geraldo Rivera posted a semi-nude photo of himself clothed only in a towel from the waist down to Twitter Sunday. Along with the photo, the Fox News contributor tweeted "70 is the new 50 (Erica and family are going to be so pissed...but at my age...)," the New York Daily News reported. E! Online reported his wife Erica reacted with bemusement. "This is exactly the kind of thing that happens when I fall asleep first...Thank god we have towels in the bathroom. But I'm proud my husband looks so hot!" she told the entertainment news website exclusively. The Daily News said the so-called selfie had generated more than 700 re-tweets.
