*** A WORD FROM THE KITCHEN ***

I did what I said I was going to do and spent about
the entire weekend outdoors with the family. We even
flew kites although mine kept hitting the ground.
Ahhh felt just like a kid again. Too bad the weekend
always has to come to an end.

I have a great idea for kid food PIZZA ON A STICK that's
even fun for them to help prepare. It's all about making
the food fun for them and sometimes just a different
shape from the norm is all you need to keep things
interesting. I still look for new shapes I can cut the
kids toast into on the weekends they love this little
surprise and yogurt parfaits have endless possibilities.
Your kids will appreciate the extra touches and it'll
get them interested in cooking too.

Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS:
8 oz Italian sausage links
2 C whole cherry tomatoes
1 medium onion, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 large green bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
30 slices pepperoni
1 (10 oz) tube refrigerated pizza crust
1 1/2 C shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 1/4 C pizza sauce, warmed

DIRECTIONS:
In a large, non-stick skillet, brown the sausages over
medium heat until no longer pink; Drain. When cool enough
to handle, cut sausage into 20 pieces. on 10 metal or soaked
wooden skewers, alternately thread the sausage, vegetables
and pepperoni. Unroll pizza dough onto a lightly floured
surface; cut width-wise into 1 inch wide strips. Starting
at the pointed end of the prepared skewer, pierce the skewer
through one end of the dough strip and press end of dough
against end item on skewer. Spiral wrap dough around skewer,
allowing vegetables and meat to peek through. wrap the
remaining end of the dough strip around the skewer above
the last item. Repeat with remainder of skewers. Arrange
kabobs on baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake
in a preheated at 400 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or
until vegetables are tender and pizza dough is golden.
Immediately sprinkle with cheese, Serve with warmed pizza
sauce.

WAYFARER STYLE SUNGLASSES

Retail Price: $39.99
DEAL PRICE: $3.99

These classic and always popular Wayfarer style sunglasses have
never been more affordable. At $3.99 you'll want to stock up.

They are perfect for the beach or any activity. It's the Wayfarer
Style... your probably more familiar with it if I say Tom Cruise
in Risky Business, The Blues Brothers, Will Smith, etc...

Sunglass styles come and go but this style remains popular
and stylish. Two reasons for this:

1. Rugged and built to last. You won't have to worry about
anything flimsy or breaking off on these.

2. The lens color is very dark. It's so hard to find a real
dark pair of glasses anymore.

Drop them, toss them... they can take it! These will last you a
long, long time. To grab a pair or two, visit:

FAMILIES THAT COOK TOGETHER
cookin' with your kids

Younger kids can watch what you're doing and help out
with small tasks, like stirring something or setting
the table. Older kids can be taught how to crack eggs
or measure ingredients. Even teens might be lured into
the kitchen if you tell them they can choose the dish
and you'll help prepare it with them.

To the kids, it will seem like fun, but there are other
benefits to this time together:

Preschoolers see how the dishes they eat are put
together ? and they get hands-on experience, which is
a great way to learn and feel like they are helping out.

School-age kids can learn some cooking basics and use
their math skills as they help combine ingredients for
recipes. You also can use the time to talk about good
nutrition and why you chose the ingredients you're
using. It can lay the groundwork for healthy eating
later on.

Teens might appreciate the chance to improve their
cooking skills ? good preparation for when they'll
need to cook for themselves. Teens also might be
interested in trying different cuisines. Do they love
Asian food? Visit an Asian market and put together
something authentic.

Parents get something out of this kitchen togetherness
too. First, there's the quality time you'll share. Then
there's the pleasure of sitting down at the table together
to enjoy what you've whipped up.
