Here's the Scoop...

Today's issue is like a blast from the past. I'm feeling all nostalgic with Full House, Firefly, and Tales from the Crypt talk. Not to mention that Star Wars is the number 1 movie at the box office.

This is 2016, right?

Be Well,
Steve

Netflix releases first photos from 'Fuller House'
Netflix has released the first photos from Fuller House, the sequel series to the beloved family sitcom Full House.

"In Fuller House, the adventures that began in 1987 on Full House continue, with veterinarian D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure) recently widowed and living in San Francisco," a synopsis said.

"D.J.'s younger sister/aspiring musician Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) and D.J.'s lifelong best friend/fellow single mother Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), along with Kimmy's feisty teenage daughter Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas), all move in to help take care of D.J.'s three boys -- the rebellious 12-year-old Jackson (Michael Champion), neurotic 7-year-old Max (Elias Harger) and her newborn baby, Tommy Jr. (Messitt twins)."

Set to premiere via the streaming service Feb. 26, the show will also feature guest appearances by original cast members John Stamos, Bob Saget, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin.

A teaser trailer released last month for the follow-up show featured the family's iconic house and the voices of its cast members, but did not show the characters. Thursday's Netflix photos have the stars reprising their roles in the familiar locale.

Which writer/director is working on a 'Tales from the Crypt' re-boot for TNT?

Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau to reunite on 'Castle'
Summer Glau will guest star on Castle Season 8.

TV Line reports the 34-year-old actress will play "provocative" private detective Kendall Frost on Episode 14. The character will compete with Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) to solve a case.

Glau and Fillion co-starred as Malcolm Reynolds and River Tam on Fox series Firefly and the feature film Serenity. The pair previously reunited for Episodes 1 and 7 of the actor's web series Con Man with fellow co-star Alan Tudyk.

Firefly ran for just one season, but maintains a following among fans. The sci-fi series, which follows the exploits of the Serenity spaceship crew, was created by Joss Whedon, and former stars Adam Baldwin and Gina Torres have also appeared on Castle.

Castle will return from mid-season break Feb. 1. The crime drama follows Castle, a best-selling mystery novel author, as he helps detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) solve cases. Fillion and Katic won Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor and Actress at the 2016 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday.

Glau has starred on a number of series since Firefly, including Whedon show Dollhouse, Alphas and Arrow. She last played Anna Brandt on the Crackle series Sequestered, which co-starred Jesse Bradford.

Which writer/director is working on a 'Tales from the Crypt' re-boot for TNT?

Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is to curate a new 2-hour block of terror and suspense programming, including a remake of Tales from the Crypt, for TNT.

The block will feature both short and long-form storytelling. It is set to premiere this fall.

"This is a new genre for us in our series efforts and a great chance to partner with M. Night Shyamalan, whose blockbuster hit The Visit reminded movie audiences and critics this past summer that he truly is a master of horror," Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT, said in a statement Thursday. "This 2-hour horror block demonstrates not only TNT's commitment to working with today's top talents, but also our strategy to stand out in today's marketplace by challenging the conventional rules of programming and scheduling."

"I couldn't be more excited to be teaming up with Kevin Reilly, Sarah Aubrey and the entire TNT team in this unique endeavor," added Shyamalan. "To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales from the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can't wait to dive into."

Shyamalan's films include The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village and Lady in the Water. He also was the executive producer of the TV series Wayward Pines.
