False Eyelashes: How to Apply for a Natural Look

False eyelashes were one reserved for glamorous celebrities
or Vegas showgirls. But, today's false eyelash kits are easy enough to apply, anyone can wear them! In fact, some beauty experts argue false eyelashes are the modern equivalent to the Little Black Dress. If you want to learn how to get a natural look with false eyelashes, use these beauty tips. In no time you can look like a celebrity for very minimal cost.

How to Choose Your Lashes

While it might seem like false eyelashes come in only one
variety, it's not true. You can choose full sets of flirty
lashes or single lashes to add just a bit of drama to your
eyes. The wider and fuller the lashes appear, the slimmer
your face will appear. So, be sure you think about which
lashes will look best on your face and for the event you're
attending.

In addition to choosing either a full and dramatic set or a
few flirty lashes, you'll need to think about the color of
lashes you want to buy. It's best to go dark if your event
is happening in the evening but lighter for day time wear.
Of course, even if you choose lighter lashes, your mascara
will darken them to match the rest of your lashes.

Setting the Lashes Length

When adding false lashes, it's important to pay close
attention to the length of the lashes if you want a natural
look. The fake eyelashes should follow your natural eyelash
line. You can trim your fake lashes with scissors to get the best fit, but they don't have to be exactly the same length as your natural lashes. Otherwise, your lashes will only look fuller, not longer or more glamorous. Remember, trim your lashes before you put on the glue or eyelash adhesive.

How to Apply False a Set or Individual Eyelashes

Full Set of Lashes - If you're applying a full set of lash extensions, be sure your eyes are clean or makeup, shadow and liner. Put a thin line of glue along the base of the fake lashes and let it sit for a few moments. Next, set the false lashes along the base of your natural lashes, trying to keep them as close as possible to your natural lash line. To make minor adjustments, use tweezers to help position them properly. A full set will enhance your natural lashes and give you a lush look.

Individual Lashes - For individual lash application, you must start the same way, with clean eyes free from makeup. Next, use a tweezer to help hold the individual lash for better control. Squeeze a little glue onto a small piece of foil and dip the lash into the glue. Allow the glue to set on the end of the lash before you apply it to the base of your natural eyelashes. If you want a dramatic look, use longer individual lashes on the outer corner of the eyes. Also, remember to curl the eyelash before you apply it to give yourself a fuller overall effect.

Word of Caution about Individual Lashes

Individual lashes can be difficult to manage when you're
doing your makeup. However, if you want to add glamour to
your lashes, use products that are oil-free and non-creamy.
Otherwise, the lash hair might slip off your eyes. If you're unsure what makeup to use, consult the experts at Sephora or another cosmetic counter.
