'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel' DVD

This is the sequel to Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007), and
it retains the use of a combination of live action and CGI
animation. The title characters Alvin, Theodore and Simon
are again voiced by Justin Long, Jesse McCartney and Matthew
Gray Gubler. This time around the chipmunks are in high
school, and the sequel introduces a female group of singing
chipmunks called the Chipettes (voices of Amy Poehler, Anna
Faris and Christina Applegate). The film has covers of pop
songs, including the Chipettes doing Beyoncé's "Single
Ladies (Put a Ring on It)."

'An Education' DVD

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, this is a
British indie drama. The story, based on a memoir by Lynn
Barber, is a coming-of-age tale set in drab, repressive 1961
London. It's basically a character study of Jenny (Carey
Mulligan, nominated for a Best Actress Oscar), a middle-
class young woman who's 16 when the film opens. She wants
to grow up and seizes her opportunity when she meets David
(Peter Sarsgaard), a man twice her age. She gets into a
romance with him and learns a lot about herself and the
world, but he turns out to be involved in unsavory activi-
ties.

'Sherlock Holmes' DVD

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law star as Sherlock Holmes and
his sidekick Watson in this movie directed by Guy Ritchie
(Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). As in Arthur
Conan Doyle's stories, the setting remains Victorian London,
but in Ritchie's movie, Holmes and Watson are more like
action heroes. Watson is engaged to be married, and Irene
Adler (Rachel McAdams), the only woman to ever fascinate
Holmes, shows up. Holmes and Watson bicker like Oscar and
Felix in The Odd Couple, but they still solve a mystery
involving murders and a secret society.
