Paris Hilton Arrested for Cocaine Possession...

Paris Hilton was arrested Friday night in Las Vegas for
possession of a controlled substance after cocaine was
found in her purse, a police spokesman says.

Paris was arrested shortly before midnight on Las Vegas
Blvd after police pulled over a vehicle that she was in.
The hotel heiress was not driving.

Public Information officer Marcus Martin said the vehicle
was stopped after officers believed marijuana smoke was
coming out of the car in front of the Wynn Hotel, where
her boyfriend, Cy Waits, operates a nightclub.

After a search of Paris, cocaine was found in her purse,
Martin said.

She was booked into the Clark County Detention Center
early Saturday morning but later released. The male
driver of the car was arrested on DUI drug charges.

This was the third drug-related incident involving Paris
this summer.

In July, Paris was held by police on the French island of
Corsica and caught with less than a gram of marijuana in
her purse but released without being charged.

Earlier in July, she was questioned by South African police
at the World Cup after she was allegedly caught smoking
marijuana. Her rep called it a "complete misunderstanding,"
and Paris wasn't charged.

Her latest tangles with the law come three years after she
went to jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related
driving case.

Brooke Shields Breaks Her Hand During Rehearsals...

Actors are told to "break a leg" for good luck. But a hand,
too?

Brooke Shields has been sporting a cast lately, and her rep
said it's the result of a mishap while preparing for a Los
Angeles stage show.

"Brooke broke her hand during rehearsal for the musical Leap
of Faith, her rep says. "The cast will be off before previews
on Sept. 11. It was a minor break and did not affect the
production schedule."

Brooke, 45, is starring with Raúl Esparaza in the show at the
Ahmanson Theatre. Opening night is Oct. 3.

Bullock Praises New Orleans School for Hurricane Recovery...

Despite the rain-soaked gray Sunday morning and the somber
fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Sandra Bullock
managed to get a laugh out of the crowd at Warren Easton
Charter High School in New Orleans.

Flipping over an hourglass, Sandra joked, "THIS is all the
time I have."

Sandra, a part-time New Orleans resident, donated money
to help rebuild the school and to open a student health
clinic. She appeared at weekend events to pay tribute to
those behind the hurricane recovery effort.

"I have seen nothing but unimaginable kindness, perseverance
and hope right in this room here," she said. "It gives me
great pleasure to be in the company of these people who have
actually made the difference. They did the hard work, they
are here sitting before you."

Joking that she was beginning to sound like a politician -
"No offense," she laughed to U.S. Sens. Mary Landrieu and
David Vitter, Sandra said that despite the devastation,
the anniversary should be seen as day for celebration.

"These young adults have seen the very worst, and they are
committed to the very best," she continued. " They are our
future leaders. I would like to thank the students who step
up to the plate and do the hardest work. I didn't do it in
high school, and it makes me so incredibly proud."

Sandra stood with school nurse Cassondra Ferrand and
principal Alexina Medley and other officials to cut the gold
ribbon on the new health facility behind the school.

"It was more than her money," says Easton Foundation board
member Arthur Hardy. "She is like our spiritual leader. She
is our angel."
