Elton John has appendicitis, cancels concert tour
British rock 'n' roll icon Elton John announced on his website Tuesday he has appendicitis and must cancel a
string of concerts while he undergoes treatment. "Elton
is incredibly disappointed to postpone these tour dates,"
a message on his website said. "To know that he made such super-human efforts and continued to perform to thousands through his illness only confirms his dedication to his European fans. He is eager to be back on top form and return to play the remaining shows starting in early September 2013." The 66-year-old pop star fell ill during his
recent European tour. Exploratory scans and blood tests
showed he was suffering from an appendix abscess surrounding retrocaecal appendicitis. He is taking intensive antibiotics and expected to undergo surgery in the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.
Mom says Kim Kardashian wanted to name baby North
Kris Jenner says her daughter, U.S. reality TV personality Kim Kardashian, wasn't pressured by her rapper beau Kanye West to name their daughter North. The couple's first child was born June 15. "Kim sort of explained it to me," Jenner told "Huffington Post Live" Monday about her granddaughter's name. "She said North is the highest power. And their baby North, their little girl, is the highest point and power between the two of them. So, I thought that was really cool." Asked whose idea the name was, Jenner replied, "I think it was a joint decision." "That's what I think. They did it together. Yeah, for sure," she said, adding she had no input in the naming decision."I stayed out of that one," Jenner said. "I did the same thing with [my daughter] Kourtney when she named Mason and Penelope."
Jenner's new talk show, "Kris," is to premiere July 15.

Report: Ailing Randy Travis' loved ones are 'frantic'
Randy Travis' friends are extremely worried about the hospitalized U.S. country singer's rapidly deteriorating health, TMZ reported. Travis, 54, last month completed his
court-ordered rehab stemming from a 2012 drunk driving arrest and was touring again when he was struck down by pneumonia. He was airlifted Sunday to a hospital where he is still being treated for complications of viral cardiomyopathy. TMZ said Travis' publicist has said only that Travis is in critical condition, but sources told the celebrity news website the recording artist's friends and family are "frantic."
Amanda Bynes tweets about 'broken nose'
Troubled U.S. actress Amanda Bynes said via Twitter her doctor broke her nose during surgery and she is now having difficulty breathing. "My Nose Is Broken I'm Bruised I Can't Wait For My Next Surgery," Bynes tweeted Monday. "My Surgeon Broke My Nose During My Surgery But Hasn't Finished My Nose! It's Still Broken And I Can't Breathe!" She didn't name her plastic surgeon or say when she started experiencing discomfort. Bynes, 27, previously said on Twitter she was excited to begin the work on her face last month because she was dissatisfied with webbing between her eyes. The actress starred in "The Amanda Show," as well as the films "Hairspray" and "What a Girl Wants," but her last major screen credit was a supporting role in 2010's "Easy A." Her once-bright career has been eclipsed in recent years by her bizarre Twitter rants and media reports of her erratic behavior and brushes with the law.
