Effective Home Remedies for PMS

Nothing is worse than suffering from symptoms of PMS. While
some women might only experience a few, minimal issues,
others have full blown symptoms that can leave them bed-
ridden and dealing with extreme mood swings. While there are
certain types of pills that promise to ease the bloating,
cramps and other ailments that come with ?that time of the
month,? women that are interested in a more natural approach
have the opportunity to check out the many different types
of home remedies available.

Believe it or not, the majority of home remedies that are
great for treating the symptoms of PMS are more along the
lines of lifestyle changes and even common sense practices
that should be incorporated on a regular basis during a
woman?s monthly cycle. For example, make it a point to get
extra sleep during this time of the month. Being fully
rested is a great way to avoid feeling fatigued or irritable
the next day. Because stress is a major factor in causing a
woman?s mood swings to go into effect during this time, avoid
situations where you would find yourself more stressed out
than usual. This could be staying in instead of making an
appearance at a party and keeping things simple by watching
movies or reading a book during your down time.

PMS can be easily curbed by switching up your eating habits
as well. Fatigue and bloating are two of the most common
symptoms of this condition and as such, it is ideal to avoid
certain foods that will only serve to make your PMS worse.
When feeing fatigued, reach for a cup of tea instead of an
energy drink or coffee. Highly caffeinated beverages only
provide a temporary boost in energy but not in a good way.
Additionally, the crash afterwards will leave you feeling
even more fatigued than you were to begin with. Alcohol
should also be avoided, since it also adds to feelings of
lethargy. Tired of feeling bloated? Then do not consume
foods that are high in salt and avoid using salt in your
meals during your monthly cycle. This includes salad
dressings, hot dogs and catsup. The more salt that is
consumed during PSM the more water your body will carry,
which leads to bloating and even tenderness of the breasts.

Even though exercise is probably going to be the last thing
on your mind during your period, this activity is actually
great for getting anybody out of PMS mode. However, this does
not mean that you have to go to the gym and spend hours away
sweating on a treadmill or engaging in an aerobics class. The
type of exercise you choose to do should literally be
something that you enjoy. Such exercise activities could
include brisk walks at the park, rollerblading, hiking or
jogging. Being out and about will instantly lift your spirits
and if you want to encourage the buddy system, bring along a
good friend to keep you company.
