What Are Bath Salts?

If you've never done an easy to make bath salts recipe you
might be wondering what it is. Here's the simple explanation. Go ahead and give it a try and use it for yourself. Once is all it takes and you'll be convinced it's one of the best gifts around. Bath salts are simply salt different types that are blended together.

Scent (essential oil) is added to the salt in drops. Think of it as aromatherapy in a jar.

Sometimes a few drops of color (food coloring) is also added to make them visually pleasing.

You simply toss about 1/2 cup of the salts into your warm bath water and the salt alkalizes the water which makes it feel silky to your skin.

Its a wonderfully relaxing experience which is the reason why the top spas use them!

Benefits Of Bath Salts

Bath salts are said to have a number of benefits:

- Reducing muscle tenderness.

- Soothing minor skin irritations.

- They can be used as exfoliators.

- The scents can produce calmness.

- Salt softens the water giving it a silky feel.

Home Made Bath Salts

It's so easy to make bath salts. Here's the basic recipe for
any bath salt:

2 cups Epsom Salt
12 drops scent (essential oil)
1 or 2 drops food coloring

Take 1/2 cup of salt and add the scent and the food coloring. Mix it well in a glass bowl. Then add the rest of the salt and mix so that the color and scent is distributed evenly. Put in either large Ziplock bags or glass jar containers.

Thats it! You can customize the recipe for a variety of bath salts. For instance, use 1 cup of Epsom salt and 1 cup of dead sea salts.

You can add more or less of the essential oil scent of your
choice.

You can leave your salts natural and uncolored, or you can
make them beautiful shades of blue, green or pink.

Keep in mind that salt attracts moisture. Its very important that you keep the salts in a container with a lid on. If you dont the salts will clump together.

These easy to make bath salts are perfect for giving as gifts during the holidays. Create your own labels on your computer or simply design them by hand with stick on labels. Your family and friends will appreciate the time you spent to create a handmade gift especially for them.
