Hello Everyone,

Email from Naomi a reader: I love the helpful hints that you offer to your readers. In today's edition 7/8/15, you
mentioned that you had been storing your avocados, garlic, lemons, and limes incorrectly. You listed avocados and garlic as foods to be left at room temperature. However, you did not state would you had been doing wrong with lemons and limes or how they should be stored. Would you please enlighten your readers as to what should be done with them?

Naomi, lemons and limes are considered citrus, so the article states those should be kept at room temperature. I have always kept them in the fridge, and in all honestly have noticed at times my limes aren't that juicy. I figured they were just bad, maybe it was the way I was storing them was drying them out.

After you have used the baking soda in the refrigerator, don't throw it away! Put it in the sink drain or garbage disposal. Add a cup of vinegar and let it stand overnight. Run hot water through it in the morning; it will help keep drains clean and smelling fresh.

When you've finished a bottle of ketchup, make use of the
residue: add a little water or vinegar and shake, then use
the liquid to flavour soups, stews or salad dressings.
