Here's the Scoop....The producers of hit period drama "Downtown Abbey" have fired back at reports suggesting Dame Maggie Smith is leaving the series.
Internet rumors over the weekend hinted that the great British actress, who plays the Dowager Countess in the TV hit, would not return following the upcoming third season.
But a representative for Carnival Film and Television Limited - the company behind the drama - insists the reports are false.
The insider says, "Series three is currently filming with Maggie along with the other cast. We do not comment on future story lines, however there is no truth in the story that Maggie is leaving the show."
The speculation follows reports from earlier this month suggesting Smith "very difficult" to work with.
Executive Rebecca Eaton told "Downton Abbey" fans, "Maggie Smith is a handful, it's true. She's very difficult. She knows her worth, and she's tricky on the set, but she delivers when the time comes."

Moore returns to Twitter...Demi Moore has returned to Twitter.com for the first time since her stint in rehab for exhaustion in January.
The actress reactivated her old Twitter handle, @mrskutcher, on Sunday with the word, "Testing..." and a photo of herself reclining in a bed.
Demi last tweeted promotional notes about pal Amanda DeCadenet's new talk show "The Conversation" January 7.
On Monday, the actress, who is now estranged from husband Ashton Kutcher, followed up her return to the website with a Twitpic of a beach landscape with the note, "I saw a piece of heaven smile at me and was reminded it is not how much we do but the appreciation with which we do it!"
Demi has had a rough start to 2012. She checked into a Los Angeles medical center following a medical emergency at her home on January 23. Her publicist claimed the actress was suffering from "exhaustion" and had checked into a treatment center in a bid to "improve her overall health."
Brown pleads not guilty to DUI...Bobby Brown has pleaded not guilty to a charge of drunk driving in California.
Whitney Houston's ex-husband was arraigned in a Van Nuys court on Monday morning, where he faced three misdemeanor counts for a DUI, driving on a suspended license and talking on his cellphone behind the wheel.
Bobby did not appear in court for the hearing and his plea was entered by his lawyer, Tiffany Feder.
A pre-trial hearing was set for May 16.
The "My Prerogative" singer was arrested on March 26 after he failed a field sobriety test.
Bobby was ordered by Commissioner Rebecca Owens to abstain from drinking alcohol until his next court date.

Reports about their relationship emerged last month, with a source revealing they were introduced by a mutual friend in January and the couple had been dating ever since.
Amanda has been filming new movie musical "Les Miserables" in England and has now decided to end the romance with New York-based Josh because of the distance between them.
A source says, "Amanda's been flying home to Los Angeles when she's not in the studio. She has been trying to see Josh but it hasn't worked. She decided to end things."
Paul Wesley and Joan Rivers' plane struck by lightning..."Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley and comedienne Joan Rivers had the fright of their lives on Friday after their airplane was struck by lightning on one of the most superstitious days of the year.
The pair were flying on the same jet from Los Angeles to Toronto, Canada and Paul confesses they both ran into a bout of bad luck.
Taking to his Twitter.com account to alert fans of his brush with death, he wrote, "Friday the 13th and my plane gets struck by lightning."
And actress/TV personality Joan poked fun at the incident in a separate message, which read, "I just landed on a plane from LA that was STRUCK by lightning. Thank God everyone is fine."
And still visibly shaken up, Paul recounted the horrifying experience during an appearance on morning show "Live! With Kelly" on Monday, saying, "I had a really interesting experience. My wife (actress Torrey DeVitto) and I were flying to Toronto for a quick 24-hour trip and we had a really amazing thing happen. Our plane got struck my lightning. It was literally, like, I was sitting here, my wife was here, there was this huge burst of light and this loud (boo)...
"I thought, 'Oh my god, the plane is going down,' I was all frantic. And I look behind me to look at the other passengers and who do I see? Joan Rivers... I thought, 'This is it, I'm going down with Joan Rivers. This is going to be my final hoorah, my goodbye.'"

And Anne's busy schedule has forced her to reassess her wedding plans.
A source comments, "Anne's worried there won't be time to get back in shape and grow her hair for a summer wedding. She also has to promote her movie Batman. They are thinking about postponing until later this year or maybe 2013."
