Here's the Scoop...

I started watching the show 'Banshee'. It's an action/crime/drama show that's on Cinemax. Oh, and it's awesome!

According to them, meaning Cinemax, here's the lowdown if you're interested - From the creator of 'True Blood,' 'Banshee' stars Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, where he continues his criminal activities, even as he's hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. This show has so many interesting characters and storylines, plus the action scenes are top-notch. It may not be for everyone, but I highly recommend it. But, be warned, it is rated TV-MA for it's violence, sexual situations, language and nudity. Hey, don't say I didn't warn you.

A great viewing suggestion from a fine reader. Thanks, Zack!

Be Well,
Steve

Stephen King has confirmed that actors Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey will star in the upcoming film adaption of his 1980s novel series, The Dark Tower.

King took to Twitter to share the news, writing, "It's official: The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed. #DarkTowerMovie @McConaughey @IdrisElba."

Elba will play Roland Deschain, the Gunslinger, while McConaughey will play villain Randall Flagg, or the Man in Black.

Elba further confirmed the news on Twitter, mentioning his famous co-star. "You have one new follower. #DarkTowerMovie," he wrote.

"Come and get me, I look forward to it," McConaughey replied on the social media site.

It is uncertain which books from the Dark Tower series the upcoming film will focus on, but co-writer and director Nikolaj Arcel said the story will "take place in our day, in the modern world," according to Entertainment Weekly.

King also chimed in, telling ET "[The movie] starts in media res, in the middle of the story instead of at the beginning, which may upset some of the fans a little bit, but they'll get behind it, because it is the story."

"The thing is, it's been a looong trip from the books to the film," King said.

"When you think about it, I started these stories as a senior in college, sitting in a little [expletive] cabin beside the river in Maine, and finally this thing is actually in pre-production now. I'm delighted, and I'm a little bit surprised."

??? Guess Who ???

Who has been cast as Nancy Drew in the new CBS pilot?

Oscar-winning actor George Kennedy dead at 91
George Kennedy, the big, gruff, tough-guy character actor who won an Oscar for Cool Hand Luke and later lampooned those type of characters in The Naked Gun movies has died. He was 91.

Kennedy died of natural causes at his home in Boise, Idaho, grandson Cory Schenkel reported on Facebook Tuesday.

The long career of the actor included TV and movie roles stretching from the 1960s to 2014. He was born into a show business family in 1925 and had his first stage role at age 2 in a touring company of Bringing Up Father.

He enlisted and fought under General George Patton in World War II, where he earned two Bronze Stars and four rows of combat and service ribbons, all despite having a left leg three inches shorter than the right.

Working for the Army Information Office, he was an adviser on the TV comedy Sgt. Bilko in the 1950s, where he was really bitten by the acting bug.

At an imposing 6-foot-4-inches tall, he played bad guys in TV westerns against the even taller stars James Arness, Chuck Conners or Clint Walker. But in his breakthrough came in his 1968 Oscar-winning role as Dragline in Cool Hand Luke, opposite Paul Newman.

"The marvelous thing about that movie," Kennedy said in a 1978 interview, "was that as my part progresses, I changed from a bad guy to a good guy. The moguls in Hollywood must have said, 'Hey, this fellow can do something besides be a bad guy.' "

He was a regular in 1970s disaster movies like Airport and Earthquake, then lampooned the type of big, gruff tough guy roles he'd always played in the Naked Gun movies as Leslie Nielson's sidekick.

He also had roles in the classics Spartacus, The Sons of Katie Elder and The Dirty Dozen.

Kennedy also wrote three books, including the murder mysteries Murder on Location, Murder on High, and his autobiography, Trust Me, in 2011.
