The amount of daily recommended weight loss just keeps changing. It seems like every time I turn around, what people have said in the past is no longer valid! After researching this, I've come to realize that everything that people have said in the past no longer stands!
It turns out that 30 minutes of the recommended exercise 5 days a week may not be enough anymore. Overweight and obese adults in the past should have gotten 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week to improve their health. Also, 200 to 300 minutes per week was recommended for long-term weight loss.
New research states that 150-250 minutes per week of moderate intensity physical activity is effective in preventing weight gain in most adults, but will provide "only modest" weight loss. Overweight and obese adults are more likely to lose weight and keep it off with 250 minutes of exercise per week. If you'd like to have significant weight loss, more than 250 minutes a week will help achieve that.
For maximum weight loss, 50 minutes of cardio exercise with regular training for the rest of that time period may be what it takes!
I haven't been able to work out for a while now, but after reading this article I have come to realize that before this, I have been working out incorrectly. It is best to check the new studies at least once a year if you are actively trying to lose weight so that you can follow the recommendations that will give you the maximum results you'd like to achieve!
