Injury sidelines dancer Derek Hough

Mark Ballas is expected to fill in for Derek Hough on
America's "Dancing with the Stars" while Hough recovers from a serious neck injury, UsMagazine.com said. Hough has been partnered with Olympian Shawn Johnson for the show's current all-star edition. UsMagazine.com said he aggravated a pre-existing neck injury during the program's Oct. 30 broadcast and couldn't dance on Monday night's show, so Ballas subbed for him. "Derek's injury is really serious," a show insider told UsMagazine.com. "It's likely Mark will finish out the season for him," the source said. "Derek is so disappointed but very badly hurt. He needs surgery."

"We had great fun with our guests and I think the show really captures the joyous spirit of the holidays." Buble also starred in a holiday special for NBC last year.

Brooke Shields' mom, Teri, dead at 79

Teri Shields, the mother of U.S. actress and model Brooke Shields, has died in New York after a long illness related to dementia, a family spokesman said. She was 79. The elder Shields was a single mother from New Jersey who worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist before managing her daughter's career. She was criticized for exploiting Brooke, now 47, by promoting her as a model starting when she was 11 months old, arranging for nude photos to be taken of her when she was 10 and allowing her to play a child prostitute in the 1978 film "Pretty Baby," The New York Times said Tuesday.
"They see total innocence, which is totally there," the times reported Teri Shields once said. "And two, they have the sexy child too, they have the sexy person -- that appeals to them." Shields also starred in the 1980 film "The Blue Lagoon," as well as the 1990s sitcom "Suddenly Susan." She has had recurring roles on "That '70s Show," "Lipstick Jungle" and "The Middle." The Times said Shields, a Princeton University graduate, began managing her own career when she was in her 20s.

Ford considering playing Han Solo again

Hollywood film icon Harrison Ford would consider reprising his role of Han Solo in a new "Star Wars" film if asked, sources told EW.com. A new trilogy of "Star Wars" sequels was announced last week. The first film is expected to hit theaters in 2015. "Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he's upbeat about it; all three of them are," an insider told the entertainment industry news website, referring to original "Star Wars" veterans Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. After appearing in the "Star Wars" hits in the 1970s and '80s, Ford went on to headline the blockbusters "The Fugitive," "Air Force One," "Working Girl," "Clear and Present Danger," "Presumed Innocent" and "Blade Runner," as well as four "Indiana Jones" movies. EW.com said Ford, now 70, isn't expected to enter contract talks for another "Star Wars" movie until there is a script and director. "Star Wars" creator George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4 billion.
