Hoffman death investigation leads to drug raid, four arrests
Four suspected drug dealers, who may have sold heroin to the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, have been arrested in Manhattan, the New York Post said. Narcotics officers said they found about 350 glassine envelopes containing what appeared to be heroin inside three apartments in a Mott Street building Tuesday night. The authorities obtained a search warrant after receiving a tip that Hoffman had bought drugs at the Chinatown location, the Post said. The bags of heroin found in the apartments Tuesday did not, however, have the same "Ace of Spades" stamp found on packets of heroin discovered in Hoffman's home after his death of a suspected overdose Sunday, the newspaper said. Robert Vineberg, 57, and Thomas Kushman, 48, were arrested and charged with felony drug possession Tuesday. Max Rosenblum and Juliana Luchkiw, both 22, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor drug possession. Police were talking to another man, Robert Aaron Vineberg, but he has not been charged with a crime yet, the report said. Hoffman was found dead, wearing a T-shirt and shorts, on the bathroom floor of his Greenwich Village apartment, about a mile from Chinatown, with a syringe in his left arm. The Oscar-winning actor was 46.
David Cassidy charged with DUI in LA
Entertainer David Cassidy has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, the Los Angeles City Attorney's office told TMZ. Cassidy, 63, was stopped Jan 10 after police said they saw him make an illegal right turn. The former "Partridge Family" star was arrested after he allegedly failed a field sobriety test. Cassidy has two prior convictions for driving under the influence, TMZ said Wednesday.
Marlon Wayans to host comedy competition series
TBS says it has ordered eight hourlong episodes of a U.S. comedy competition series with Marlon Wayans to serve as host. Wayans, along with some of his comedian friends and famous family members, will set out to find the funniest comedian on the program, scheduled to air this summer. "On 'Funniest Wins,'' the goal is simple: Make people laugh, or go home," TBS said in a news release. "The new series will open with a group of comedic competitors of various types, including both professionals and amateurs. Each week, guided by Marlon Wayans and a rotating crew of guests, these competitors will learn the ins and outs of a particular comedy style. They will then put what they've learned to the test in that week's main competition. At the end of each round, the field of competitors will narrow as one comic is sent packing." The winner will receive a cash prize and the chance to star in an online series for Wayans' website WhatTheFunny.com. The amount of the prize wasn't specified.

Jennifer Arnold of 'Little Couple' says her cancer is in
remission
U.S. reality TV personality Dr. Jennifer Arnold says her cancer is in remission after months of weekly intensive chemotherapy treatment. "I had my official last chemo treatment," the 39-year-old neonatologist and star of "The Little Couple" told People.com Tuesday. "And while I'm hesitant to say I'm cancer-free -- maybe that's common for people who have had cancer -- I'm doing great. Everything is moving in the right direction. I am very excited." The married mother of two young children was diagnosed with stage 3 choriocarcinoma last year. Arnold, who has dwarfism, underwent surgery to remove a mass in her uterus, then began chemotherapy after a bout of pneumonia.
Paul Walker leaves $25M to his daughter, report says
Late U.S. actor Paul Walker left his entire $25 million estate to his 15-year-old daughter Meadow, TMZ reported Tuesday. Walker's father, Paul Sr., was named executor of the will and filed the document with the court. He also requested the late film star's mother, Cheryl, be recognized as the guardian of Meadow, as well as the money she will inherit, in keeping with the will, TMZ said. A court hearing is scheduled for later this month to settle the matter since Meadow has always lived with her mother, Rebecca Soteros, who is her legal guardian, the report said. Paul Jr. was killed in a fiery car crash while riding as a passenger the afternoon of Nov. 30, 2013. Roger Rodas, the driver of the vehicle, was going more than 100 mph when he lost control of the car and crashed into a light post, killing both himself and Walker, investigators concluded. There was no sign alcohol or drugs were involved in wreck in Santa Clarita, Calif. Walker was best known for his work in the "Fast and the Furious" film franchise.
