'Curb Your Enthusiasm' to return for Season 9
Curb Your Enthusiasm will return to television for a ninth season.

HBO programming president Casey Bloys announced the news in a press release Tuesday and confirmed series creator Larry David will return to star in the show.

"We're thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of Curb and can't wait to see what he has planned," Bloys said.

Curb Your Enthusiasm premiered in 2000 and completed an eighth season in 2011. The series follows a fictionalized, over-the-top version of David as he lives and works in Los Angeles.

"In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned,'" the 68-year-old actor explained of his return.

J.B. Smoove, who plays Leon Black, was optimistic about a new season while appearing on The Rich Eisen Show last week. The actor revealed David was "thinking about coming back" when they spoke on a recent telephone call.

"He said, 'If I do come back, [will] you be available?'" J.B. Smoove recalled. "Season 9 would be fabulous."

David is best known as a co-creator of the NBC sitcom Seinfeld with Jerry Seinfeld. He most recently appeared on several episodes of Saturday Night Live as Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

Donald Glover in talks for 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'
Donald Glover is being linked to Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The 32-year-old actor, who performs music as Childish Gambino, is in talks to appear in the forthcoming reboot, news outlets reported Tuesday.

Details about Glover's potential character are being kept under wraps. Tom Holland will star as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, with Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey, Jr., as Iron Man and Michael Keaton as the villain.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is directed by Jon Watts and opens in theaters July 7, 2017. Holland's turn as Spider-Man follows Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's big-screen portrayals of the character.

"I think you are going to get to see a side to Peter Parker you've never seen before," the 20-year-old actor said at CinemaCon in April. "Obviously I'm far younger."

"We're going to see a kid who's trying to do his algebra homework, but also [trying to] make New York a safer place, so it's a really fun balance between the two," he added.

Glover lobbied to play Spider-Man himself prior to Garfield's casting. The actor, who is best known for portraying Troy Barnes on Community, later voiced Miles Morales in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.

LOOSE LIPS:
"I haven't worn red in a long time, but red's fun because it was so iconic with Clueless. I don't think I've worn a red dress since then."

Which actor wanted to name son 'Steak' due to love of meat?

Sean Penn's love of meat led him to nearly name his son "Steak."

The 55-year-old actor's son, Hopper Penn, revealed as much while speaking to Interview magazine. Hopper Penn is the only son of Sean Penn and actress Robin Wright, who split in 2009 after 13 years of marriage.

"[My name] has to do with Dennis Hopper; my dad was friendly with him and idolized him," the 22-year-old aspiring actor explained. "My dad wanted to name me Steak, the food, because he loves it so much. But my mom was never going to go for it."

"What they told me is that I hopped her in stomach, I didn't kick, so they went with that," he added.

Hopper Penn, who praised his father as "a really good actor," said his dad was the one who inspired him to start acting. He will make his film debut in Sean Penn's movie The Last Face after initially being reluctant to take on an on-screen role.

"Two and a half years ago, my dad was working on his move called The Last Face, and I asked if I could PA for it. He said, 'No, you're going to act in it.' I said no, because I'm very shy; I didn't know how to act," he recalled. "After the first day, I fell in love with it."

Sean Penn and Wright also share 25-year-old daughter Dylan. Hopper Penn previously told Elle Germany he and Dylan enjoyed a relaxed childhood in South Carolina, far away from the spotlight of Los Angeles.

"Life there was calm and simple," he said. "If we grew up in L.A., it might have been different because the [industry was] a breath away. In South Carolina, no one had to do with the movie industry -- everything was easygoing."

Hopper Penn is also slated for the movie War Machine with Brad Pitt, Allen Ruck and Will Poulter. Sean Penn, meanwhile, will play President Andrew Jackson in the HBO miniseries American Lion.
