*-- Mitt Romney sees Obamacare as broken campaign promise --*

WASHINGTON - Mitt Romney said he wished he knew during the 2012 U.S. presidential campaign what he knows now about President Obama's healthcare reform program.

Romney, the Republican nominee in the election, told "Fox News Sunday" the primary trouble with the so-called Obamacare plan is that people were caught off guard when their individual policies were cancelled.

"I wish I could go back and turn back the clock and take another try, but history is in the past and I'm not going to worry about what could have happened," Romney said.

Romney said a cornerstone of Obama's 2012 campaign was the assurance that voters with individual plans would be able to keep their policies. That claim was derailed by a spate of cancellations last year of policies that did not meet federal minimum requirements.

"They are going to find that the policies they were promised they could have they're not going to be able to keep," Romney said. "And the American people are going to be very, very upset about that and should be upset about it."

Romney said Obamacare was a drag on the U.S. economy, which he contended. "The big story of 2013, a very distressing year, is that Americans continue not to be able to find the full-time jobs they need and that's something which the president has to recognize as the first priority of his administration," he said.
