Good morning crew,
Not too much happened downtown on Saturday, but it was an
interesting day on Sunday at the poker game.
It was a $75 buy in. Now I'm not much of a poker player,
and normally 75 bucks would be more than I would invest,
but it was mostly guys from the school so I considered it
an entertainment expense.
My strategy with Texas Hold 'Em is to fold at every
available opportunity unless I have at least a really
strong pair in the hole. And with this strategy I was
slowly but surely losing all my money.
Fortunately for me I was playing with much more aggressive
players, so while my stack of chips was being slowly
whittled away the other guys at the table were going all
in against each other and knocking each other out of the
game.
After three hours of this I surprisingly found myself at
the final table, but I only had one little stack of chips
left. I couldn't fold any more so I went all in and by
bizarre luck I actually won!
The next hand I was dealt a pair of jacks, and since I
still didn't have enough money to last me a round of betting
I went all in again, and won again!
This gave me enough chips to last out two more guys and by
the time I was finally knocked out I was the third last
guy at the table, which means I actually won money! Out of
40 players I managed to nickel and dime everyone else out
except for two other guys.
Sometimes it pays to be cheap.
