Good morning crew,
Despite a torrential downpour yesterday, I managed to pull
off a pretty successful deep fry. The instruction book did
explicitly warn not to use the fryer outside, but in the
interest of keeping my apartment from smelling like a fast
food restaurant I completely ignored it.
I mean really, how dangerous could heating a gallon of oil
to 350 degrees with an electric heating element in the rain
be?
I had about 30 chicken wings, a pound of thin cut pork strips
and a pound of shrimp, almost all of which was devoured by
six people. So I guess you could call that a success. The big
drawback is the huge amount of clean up involved. It's amazing
how that oil seems to get everywhere! It took me almost as
long to clean up as it did to prepare the food.
I don't think I'll be doing this every weekend.
