Good morning crew,

I can tell the holidays are getting close. You know how? Because I am getting snowed under with solicitations from charities.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository, March of Dimes, ASPCA, PAWS (I have the wife to thank for those), The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, African Wildlife Foundation, and those are just the ones I can remember from the last few weeks.

I know there are a lot of people and a lot of causes that need a helping hand, but I tend to be a sucker for little kids because they're not responsible for what has happened to them. That's why I send an occasional check to the Chicago Food Depository and March of Dimes, but you can't tell me those charities don't share lists of contributors! Why else would I be getting solicitations from the African Wildlife Foundation?

I like to give what I can, when I can, but the way these people are pitching me they must think I'm Daddy Warbucks.

And it always ramps up around the holidays. I guess they figure people will be feeling guilty while stuffing their faces with hams and turkeys and mashed potatoes.

Damnit. Where's the checkbook?

Laugh it up,

Joe

My girlfriend told me to take a spider out instead of killing it. So we went and had some drinks. Cool guy. Wants to be a lawyer.

When my wife gets upset, sometimes a simple 'Calm down, Honey' in a soothing voice is all it takes to get her a lot more upset.

My husband was waterskiing when he fell into the river. As the boat circled to pick him up, he noticed a hunter sitting in a duck boat in the reeds. My husband put his hands in the air and joked, "Don't shoot!"

The hunter responded, "Don't quack."

I'd never had surgery, and I was nervous. "This is a very simple, noninvasive procedure," the anesthesiologist reassured me. I started to feel better until he continued, "Heck, you have a better chance of dying from the anesthesia than the surgery."
