Hello Everyone...

I may have said before, but I went through a huge Dylan phase in college. I listened to as much as I could without going into his underground catalogs of rarities and alternate mixes. Needless to say, changed my life.

The film I'm Not There stars several phenomenal actors, each fictionalizing a 'version' of Bob Dylan through the phases of his life. The early, more folky part is portrayed by Christian Bale. He's not a singer, so they dubbed the vocals from Mason Jennings for the film. In an extra on the DVD, an entire performance is captured for the song, The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.

It's a great story-song, with a heck of a melody. I've even been known to sing it from time to time...

Mason Jennings - Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll
From the DVD extras of I'm Not There, Christian Bale portrays Jack Rollins, an interpretation of Bob Dylan, who sings with the voice of Mason Jennings, singing a song about Hattie Carroll. It's a little complicated.
