Charlie Sheen back on HIV meds after 'alternative treatment' in Mexico
Charlie Sheen, who announced his HIV-positive status in November, is back on his meds after a week-long break.
The 50-year-old actor's manager, Mark Burg, confirmed as much to People after Sheen announced he had stopped taking the drugs on Tuesday's episode of The Dr. Oz Show.
"Charlie is back on his meds," Burg said. "He tried a cure from a doctor in Mexico but the minute the numbers went up, he started taking his medicine. He told [Dr. Oz] he would start on the plane on the way home and that is exactly what he did."
Sheen opened up about his HIV diagnosis on the episode, which was taped Dec. 8. He told Dr. Mehmet Oz he stopped his meds to pursue an "alternative treatment" offered in Mexico by Dr. Sam Chachoua, who isn't licensed to practice in the U.S.
"I've been off my meds for about a week now," the star said at the time. "Am I risking my life? Sure. So what? I was born dead. That part of it doesn't faze me at all."
"I'm a little off my game, because right before I walked out here, I got some results that I was disappointed about," he later admitted. "I know this is an experiment, that I took a stroll down a different path. But yeah, I'd been non-detectable and non-detectable and checking the blood every week, and then found out that the numbers were back up."
Sheen revealed he is HIV-positive on the Today show in November, and claimed to have an undetectable level of the virus in his blood. The actor's father, Martin Sheen, praised his son for his "courage" following the announcement.

Which former 'NCIS' star won't return for Michael Weatherly's last episode?
Olivia Munn denies engagement to Aaron Rodgers
Olivia Munn says she's not engaged to boyfriend Aaron Rodgers, after all.
The 35-year-old actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to shoot down a story that ran in OK! magazine claiming the 32-year-old Green Bay Packers quarterback proposed to Munn over the holidays.
Munn posted a text message conversation she had with her mom about the rumor. Her mom, Kim Munn, initiated the conversation by offering her congratulations and gently chiding the actress for not telling her about the "engagement."
"Answering yes or no to personal questions can be tricky because if you say 'No' it means whenever you say 'No comment' that kinds of becomes your default 'Yes,'" the star captioned the screenshot.
"Since I'm doing press for the next few days, I didn't want to have to answer the same question over and over," she explained. "So instead, I'm going to let my text conversation with my Asian mom help me out. #Colberto."
Munn and Rodgers have been together since 2014 and live together in Green Bay, Wis., during the NFL season. Sources told E! News the two have discussed "their future together" and do want to get married... eventually.
"They are very much in love but they want to make sure it all happens naturally," the insider said. "Aaron supports Olivia with her acting and is a very proud boyfriend. There is always non-stop laughter and humor between them when they are out."
Munn is known for playing Joanna in Magic Mike with Channing Tatum and Georgina Krampf in Mortdecai with Johnny Depp. She will portray Marvel character Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, and is also slated to appear in Zoolander 2.

Which former 'NCIS' star won't return for Michael Weatherly's last episode?
Cote de Pablo won't return for Michael Weatherly's final NCIS episode.
CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller revealed as much to reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Tuesday while discussing the 47-year-old actor's impending exit.
"They are working on how Michael's character is going to be written out," he shared. "Gary [Glasberg] and the producers are working on that right now." Geller said there are "not currently" any plans for de Pablo to reprise Ziva David for Weatherly's departure.
"[I will] definitely miss [Weatherly but] completely [understand his choice]," he added. "His decision was his. It was a creative one. He was in the role for 13 years and I completely understand that and wish him well."
Weatherly announced his exit last week on Twitter, telling fans, "[Tony] DiNozzo is a wonderful, quixotic character & I couldn't have had more fun playing him." CBS later praised the star in a statement, calling him a "valued part" of their "family."
"The immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as 'Very' Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today -- the No. 1 drama in the world," the network said. "We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise."
De Pablo played Ziva for nine seasons before leaving the police drama herself in 2013. The 36-year-old actress has since starred in a CBS miniseries adaptation of Alice Hoffman's novel The Dovekeepers and the movie The 33 with Antonio Banderas.
