Casey Kasem's children file for conservatorship

Casey Kasem's three adult children have filed for conservatorship of the ailing U.S. radio icon after their step-mother Jean refused to let them see him.
UsMagazine.com said the paperwork for Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and a Healthcare Conservatorship regarding Kasem was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday. Kerri Kasem, 35, has said she has not been allowed inside her 81-year-old father's Los Angeles mansion in more than a decade and hasn't seen him at all since Jean, 59, quashed his children's weekly visits outside the home more than 90 days ago. The former "American Top 40" host, who has advanced Parkinson's disease, also is the father of Julie, 38, and Mike, 40. The three children are from his previous marriage to Linda Myers. He and Jean have a 23-year-old daughter, Liberty. "It's been really difficult, but I am hoping she comes out and says, you know, 'I'm sorry. Of course you can see your dad,'" Casey's daughter Kerri told UsMagazine.com before she and her siblings filed the legal documents. "But we've heard nothing from her. Nothing. So our next step is legal action," Kerri added. "We love my father and my father loves us. We don't want his money, we don't want his estate, we don't want anything from her. All we want is to see our dad ... We just want to see our dad and to love him and take care of him before he dies."

Tom Hanks reveals he has Type 2 diabetes

Double Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks revealed on "Late Show with David Letterman" in New York he has Type 2 diabetes. Letterman asked Hanks on Monday's edition of the program why he looks slimmer than usual, ABC News reported Tuesday. Hanks, 57, told Letterman he has been dealing with high blood sugar for about 20 years, but his health recently took a turn for the worse. "Well, you've graduated. You've got Type 2 diabetes, young man," Hanks quoted his physician as saying. The "Captain Phillips" star assured Letterman the condition is controllable, but quipped, "Well, something's going to kill us all, Dave."

Britton says Chandler doesn't want to make 'Friday Night Lights' movie

Connie Britton says her former co-star Kyle Chandler isn't as eager as she is to make a "Friday Night Lights" movie to follow their U.S. football drama series. Britton made the comment on Monday's edition of "Watch What Happens: Live," Zap2it.com reported. "You know, there's been a lot of talk about a lot of things. And some people are really excited about it, and other people aren't," Britton said of bringing the next installment of the story back to the big screen. "I love the idea. I think it would be a great idea. But my former ... husband ... Coach Eric Taylor ..." "He thinks you did it already?" host Andy Cohen asked. "Well, and he has a point," Britton said. "What do you think?" Cohen said he would be in the theater on opening night should a
"Friday Night Lights" movie get the go-ahead."And we would only do it if it was gonna be a great movie," Britton said. "That's the thing." "Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream," a 1990 non-fiction book by H.G. Bissinger,
was adapted as the film "Friday Night Lights" in 2004. The TV series, which was also based on the book and film, ran from 2006-11.

Valerie Harper gets the boot on 'Dancing with the Stars'

Cancer-stricken actress Valerie Harper and her professional partner Tristan MacManus were eliminated from "Dancing with the Stars" in Los Angeles Monday night. Known for her work on the sitcoms "Rhoda" and "Valerie," Harper, 74, announced in March she had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer and given as few as three months to live. But her oncologist said in September Harper is "pretty close to a remission. It defies the odds." Since announcing her diagnosis, Harper has published a memoir, taped an episode of "Hot in Cleveland" with her former "Mary Tyler Moore Show" cast members and starred in a TV movie. She joined the "Dancing with the Stars" cast last month and is the third celebrity eliminated from the competition. Still in the running for the coveted mirror-ball trophy are actresses Elizabeth Berkley, Leah Remini and Amber Riley, singer Christina Milian, "Jersey Shore" alum Snooki Polizzi, singer-actor Corbin Bleu, comedian Bill Engvall, actor Brant Daugherty and reality TV personality Jack Osbourne. Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet are co-hosts of the show.

Eminem's daughter crowned homecoming queen

Eminem watched his 17-year-old daughter Hailie Scott as she was crowned homecoming queen at Michigan's Chippewa Valley High School, The Macomb Daily reported. The newspaper said the famous rapper stayed out of the public view Friday night to allow his daughter a little time in the spotlight. Hailie, a senior, was voted homecoming queen by the student body and faculty, while Tyler Knepp was named homecoming king. "Hailie came out with her mother Kim [Scott] when she was introduced with all the other kids but her father watched from inside the school because he didn't want to cause a scene -- he wanted Hailie to have her own moment," one parent who asked not to be identified told the newspaper.
