Here's the Scoop....

Britney Spears celebrated a very happy long birthday weekend
with boyfriend Jason Trawick during a romantic trip to Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico.

"When they landed, she got to the [private] villa and was
blown away," a source says of the couple, who arrived on
Dec. 2, Britney's 29th birthday. "Jason had arranged a red
velvet cake for her birthday."

Last week, Britney's camp denied a tabloid report that Jason
"beat on" the pop star. And their intimate getaway, which
included a private chef and a fridge stocked with fresh fruit,
seemed to prove their point.

"They suntanned and did a lot of relaxing and decompressing,"
says the source. "They seemed very much in love. "

Indeed, a source close to Britney said last week that "the
couple's relationship is better [than ever]. Britney and
Jason lately have been very happy together."

Don Meredith Dies

Don Meredith, a star quarterback on the football field and a
legendary broadcaster off it, died on Sunday in Santa Fe,
N.M., after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He was at 72.

Don played nine seasons for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1960s,
and then upstaged himself with a distinguished broadcasting
career on ABC's Monday Night Football, where he served two
stints, from 1970-73 and 1977-84.

He was one of the first players to make the transition to the
broadcast booth, and quickly won over viewers with a colorful,
folksy, Southern style that included singing the Willie
Nelson line "Turn out the lights, the party's over" when a
team's lead seemed insurmountable.

"He was the best there was," Don's wife, Susan, Said. "We
lost a good one."

Don, who grew up in Mount Vernon, Texas, led the Cowboys to
NFL championship games in 1966 and 1967 but lost both times
to Green Bay.

Alex Welch Is Still Waiting for Demi Lovato's Apology...

Alex Welch didn't get a warning, and she hasn't gotten an "I'm
sorry" either.

The 21-year-old dancer was punched in the face by Demi Lovato
five weeks ago, and is speaking out for the first time about
what happened before and since the incident.

"To this day, I haven't gotten an apology. I've heard nothing,"
Alex says. "That's sad if you think that person is your friend."

A source close to Demi explains that "She hasn't been able to
call Alex because she is sequestered in treatment, but multiple
efforts have been made to reach out to her."

Hours before the fight, Alex says, Demi, 18, was upset because
"she had gotten in trouble" for her behavior the previous night.
Tour managers on the Jonas Brothers world tour had questioned
Demi about her conduct, and she suspected one of the dancers
had tattled on her. Not long after, Alex recalls, Demi "pulled
the dancers in a room and threatened: 'If I find out who told
on me ...' "

Still, Alex says, she wasn't worried about it, especially since
she hadn't witnessed whatever happened the night before, and
wasn't the one who had told on Demi. "I felt, honestly, I didn't
say anything and didn't think twice about it."

What happened next caught her totally off-guard.

"We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time
and I didn't get a call or text from Demi or a 'hey, you got a
problem with me,' nothing. And she walks up and punches me and
literally walked away and got in her seat."

"No one should walk up and do that and brush it over, it's not
right," says Alex, explaining why she is speaking out now.

Demi meanwhile left the tour immediately after the attack to
seek treatment for "emotional and physical issues."

"Demi feels awful about what happened," says her spokesperson
Jesse Derris. "Right now, she is 100 percent committed to her
treatment."

Alex, who suffered a black eye and bruised left cheek bone,
doesn't have any permanent damage. She has hired Beverly Hills
attorney Donald Karpel, who commented: "We have contacted the
Demi camp and we are waiting for a response. If we don't hear
back, we will pursue litigation."

Confirms a spokesperson for Demi: "We are in the process of
engaging with Alex's lawyer and hope to resolve this as
quickly as possible."

Winfrey Weathers Comical Jabs at Kennedy Center Tribute...

She's a Good Samaritan ? and a good sport.

Oprah Winfrey endured some good-natured jokes about her wealth,
influence and humanitarian work from the likes of Chris Rock,
John Travolta and others at Sunday night's Kennedy Center
Honors gala.

Travolta told the audience that he'd been "used" by the talk-
show queen, 56, in a nefarious plot to help victims of
Hurricane Katrina, telling him to fill his private plane with
food and medicine and meet her in New Orleans. Immediately.

"Take note, world, that's how you use people," Travolta said.
"You do the right thing. You do the Oprah thing."

Chris Rock delivered some zingers, saying he first met Oprah
"about 30 years ago in a strip club in Mississippi. Okay, I'm
lying, it was Buffalo."

Motioning to the VIP section, where the guests included
President Obama, Rock added: "It's amazing to look up and see
the most powerful person in the world, and next to her,
Barack Obama. Hey, he didn't get her a job, she got him a job."

Meanwhile, Barbara Walters told Oprah, "I am totally
responsible for your career," but then conceded: "She is the
best interviewer ever. No one comes close. Not even me. Those
of you who know me, know how painful it was for me to say that."

Julia Roberts added: "I think she's pretty damn close to perfect
... fabulous, shining, Margarita-drinking perfect."

The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual gala recognizing those
in the performing arts for their lifetime contributions to
American culture. This year's gala will air on CBS on Dec. 28.

Bieber's TV Appearance Canceled After Tragic Accident...

Justin Bieber canceled a planned performance on a German variety
show Saturday after another guest was critically injured
attempting a stunt.

Samuel Koch, 23, suffered serious back and spinal injuries when
he failed to fully jump over an approaching car using special
spring-powered stilt shoes on the live TV show Wetten, dass??
(Wanna Bet?).

The rest of the show was canceled, as Justin, 16, wrote on
Twitter: "we all don't think it is right to continue. Please
pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his
health and safety."

The pop star later added: "Germany I'm sorry we couldn't perform
tonight but some things are more important than putting on a
show. We will be back I promise. Thank u."

Samuel's accident occurred in front of a live studio audience
and more than 8 million TV viewers. He underwent surgery Sunday
and was put into an artificial coma. His condition was initially
life threatening, according to the German newspaper Bild, which
quoted a doctor as saying Samuel was "in an extremely critical
stage."

Wetten, dass?? has been on the air for 29 years. This is the
first truly serious accident in its history.
